Student answer (Band 5.0)

At present time, in many countries, there is an quote that "anyone can do it" in the arts field likes music, literature, acting etc. Consequently, individuals with zero skills and talents become wealthy and popular. Hence, the true talent not appreciated or valued. I strongly disagree and in this essay I will support my opinion with examples.

On the one hand, I strongly believe that without any talent there's no chance to be successful and rich, especially in arts field. However, many people built themselves to become talented or improve their skills. There's also one thing which creates barrier or stops people to become famous is limited financial support. The art is costly in present times. If we talk about the attitude "Anyone can do it", it is only to motivate people who's feeling low, so they can believe theirself and perform good. For instance, there is a artist called Jeff Bezos, He was not talented before, but he had that enough potential to enhance his skills. Due to limited fund, he couldn't be able to learn more about skills. Eventually, his university supported him with stipend, then how he improved himself and become famous.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The essay fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. The response is incomplete, ending abruptly after the introduction of a second paragraph. While you state a position, the arguments provided are underdeveloped and lack logical coherence. The example of Jeff Bezos is factually confusing and irrelevant to the topic of arts, suggesting a misunderstanding of the prompt. To improve, you must ensure you fully address all parts of the prompt with relevant, well-supported arguments and meet the length requirement to allow for a complete essay structure.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a clear structure due to its incomplete nature. While you attempt to use transition signals like 'On the one hand' and 'In contrast', the progression of ideas is hindered by the lack of a conclusion and the abrupt ending. Paragraphing is present, but the content within the second paragraph is disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow your line of reasoning. To improve, focus on creating a clear introduction, distinct body paragraphs with topic sentences, and a concluding summary that reinforces your position.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally basic and repetitive. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'there is an quote' instead of 'there is a saying' and 'anyone can do it in the arts field likes music'. You rely on simple descriptors like 'wealthy' and 'popular'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise vocabulary related to the arts and avoid informal or inaccurate word choices. Expanding your range of collocations and using more sophisticated synonyms will help convey your ideas more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'the true talent not appreciated' (missing verb), 'believe theirself' (incorrect pronoun), and 'couldn't be able to' (redundant modal usage). The sentence structures are mostly simple, with limited attempts at complex sentences. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct pronoun usage, and refining your control over modal verbs. Practicing the construction of complex sentences using subordinating conjunctions will also help improve your grammatical range.
