Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 187 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you state a position, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack sufficient supporting evidence or examples. The prompt asks for a discussion on the arts, but the essay shifts focus toward general job sectors and freelancing, which is only tangentially related to the core topic of artistic talent versus fame. To improve, you must expand your arguments with specific examples related to the arts and ensure you meet the length requirement to allow for full development of your ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is abrupt, and the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or misused (e.g., 'well, started with...', 'on the other hanel'). The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow your line of reasoning. To improve, focus on using a wider range of linking words correctly and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that directly relates to your main argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'talent', 'job', and 'people'. There are several errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'nowaday' instead of 'nowadays', 'Peoples' (which should be 'people'), and 'outage' (likely meant 'outweigh'). The range is insufficient to express complex ideas about the arts or social trends. To achieve a higher score, you should work on using more precise vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'meritocracy', 'commercialisation', or 'artistic integrity', and ensure correct word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
There are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('talent are important', 'Peoples are gets'), incorrect verb tenses, and sentence fragments. The sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at complex sentences are often faulty (e.g., 'there maybe some advantage for people who has some reference'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary commas and hyphens. You need to focus on basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage, before moving on to more complex structures.
