Student answer (Band 5.5)

The given topic brings up the question that our society often consider arts, music, literature, acting as a piece of cake, many people with no genuine talent often get successful in these professions while hardworking people with real talent aren't appreciated as much they deserve.

Getting successful in this profession is not that easy the people who have money or relations with higher ups gets a chance to foot a step in these industries, even after spending money they get trolled by the viewers, such people can buy their place or roles but talent cannot be bought at any extent. It genuinely depends on a persons luck.

We have example of both type of persons who worked hard to achieve such reputation and value in industry, and the once who payed big amounts for their success and still failed to mark their position. Actors like Salman Khan and Shahruk Khan made their reputation in the bollywood industry in early 90s they both came from middle class families and made their way to the highest ranks of the industry. While some actors used their parents fame for their sucsess were often ignored by the viewers.

Many people with amazing talent try post their work on socialmedia many countries don't have enough resources to appreciate their talent socialmedia has proved to be most affective to give them their credit and they can use multiple platforms to express their talent in front of media and public like Instagram, YouTube and Facebook.

The moral is that we should never give up on our goals and trying hard always works.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt but lacks a clear, consistent position. While you acknowledge the 'anyone can do it' attitude, the essay shifts focus between the influence of money/nepotism and the role of social media. The argument is somewhat underdeveloped; for instance, the claim that 'talent cannot be bought' is asserted but not deeply explored in relation to the prompt's concern about genuine talent being undervalued. To improve, ensure your introduction clearly states your stance and that each body paragraph directly supports that position with focused analysis rather than just listing examples like the Bollywood actors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow between them is weak. The transition from discussing nepotism to the role of social media feels abrupt, and the connection to the main argument is tenuous. Cohesive devices are limited and sometimes used incorrectly, such as the phrase 'The moral is that' to conclude an academic essay, which is too informal. Referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly in the second paragraph where the subject of 'such people' is ambiguous. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly enhance the flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on informal idioms like 'piece of cake' and 'foot a step in', which are not suitable for an academic essay. There are also some spelling errors ('sucsess', 'payed', 'socialmedia') and minor collocation issues. To reach a higher band, focus on using more academic vocabulary to express complex ideas, such as 'nepotism' instead of 'relations with higher ups' or 'meritocracy' when discussing talent-based success.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but grammatical errors are frequent. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('people... gets a chance'), punctuation (missing commas in complex sentences), and run-on sentences. For example, 'Actors like Salman Khan and Shahruk Khan made their reputation... they both came from middle class families' should be separated into two sentences or joined with a semicolon. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to lower the score. Focus on proofreading for basic sentence boundary errors.
