Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response attempts to address the prompt regarding whether anyone can enter the arts and whether genuine talent is undervalued. However, the position is not consistently clear throughout the essay due to a confusing presentation of ideas. While the writer attempts to provide relevant examples, such as a friend who became famous in acting without genuine talent and someone creating social media videos, the ideas remain under-developed and disjointed. Sentences like 'positive affect, because their is no valued talent people all are acting' obscure the main argument. The response touches upon the core issues of the task, but the lack of clear argumentation and underdeveloped support places it firmly in Band 4.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The organization and progression of ideas are severely hindered by confused paragraphing and a lack of logical links. The essay is structured into three dense paragraphs, but internal cohesion is faulty and mechanical. Referencing is frequently unclear, as seen in phrases like 'other one was art he was good painting' and 'their are atleast working various tasks', where pronouns and cohesive devices fail to connect clauses smoothly. There is no clear overall progression of argument, and the reader has to work hard to follow the writer's train of thought, resulting in a score of 4.0 for this criterion.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is basic, repetitive, and often misused, which significantly strains the reader's comprehension. The writer relies heavily on simple terms and makes frequent word-choice and collocation errors, such as 'earn capital useful for our personal things', 'filims', and 'pinoino'. There is an attempt to use less common words like 'genuine talent' and 'software employee', but these are used incorrectly or awkwardly within the context of the sentences. Because the lexical range is very limited and errors cause strain, the response aligns with the Band 4 descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The grammatical range is extremely limited, consisting almost entirely of poorly constructed simple and run-on complex sentences. There are frequent, heavy errors in basic grammar, subject-verb agreement, tense usage, and punctuation. Examples include 'Most of the countries today, there is an attitude...', 'one of my friend was many times fail in their studies', and 'yet their is a genuine talent is not valued'. These errors are so frequent that they constantly distort meaning and cause severe difficulty for the reader, placing the performance at Band 4.
