Student answer (Band 5.0)
There is no denying the fact that in some countries today, there is an attitude that anyone can become an artist. While it is commnly held belief that people with no talent become famous while genuine talent is not valued. In my opinion, I strongly agree, so I consider that we should support talent people.
To begin whith, a lot of poor students have a real genuine talent in various feilds such as arts-music. In other words, they can not attract any atension to improve their talents by teachers in their schools or universities. In addition, parents do not have the enough ability to pay the high university fee because they are poor. For example, many students prefer to study art major to become an artist in the future but they are forced to study other subjects because they do not have money.
Another point to consider, many students who do not have any special talent in difficult subjects like art and acting become very popular among people. It is also possible to say that, their parents are rich, so they can teach their children what they want even if they do not have any special skills. For instance, many experts in art find many paintings are boring or normal, in the same time it has a large popularity because the artist who paints it is rich.
In conclusion, despite people having different views, i believe that the talent person in art or acting has their a strong right to become an artist or an actor even if they do not have anything.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear stance ('I strongly agree') on whether anyone can succeed in the arts and whether genuine talent is unvalued due to wealth or social attitudes. The student attempts to present ideas in the body paragraphs, such as the financial barriers faced by talented individuals versus the popularity achieved by wealthy people without special skills. However, the development of these ideas remains limited and somewhat repetitive. Phrases like 'a lot of poor students have a real genuine talent' and 'many experts in art find many paintings are boring or normal' touch upon relevant points, but they lack deep elaboration and concrete real-world examples. Additionally, the conclusion introduces a slightly confused thought ('the talent person in art or acting has their a strong right'). Therefore, the response aligns best with Band 5 as it addresses the task and takes a position, but the ideas are under-developed and limited in scope.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion, displaying a basic structural framework. Paragraphing is attempted, though the logical progression is hindered by weak transitions and disjointed sentences. For instance, the transition 'To begin whith' introduces the first body paragraph, while 'Another point to consider' opens the second. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or repetitively, such as 'In other words' and 'In addition,' which do not always logically connect the preceding statements. Referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly with pronouns and dangling modifiers. For example, 'In conclusion, despite people having different views, i believe that the talent person in art or acting has their a strong right...' demonstrates a breakdown in internal cohesion and clause linkage. Overall organisation is present, but progression is frequently interrupted, placing the response firmly at Band 5.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used throughout the essay is basic and repetitive, reflecting a limited range that is minimally adequate for the task. The student attempts some less common terms like 'unvalued', 'popularity', and 'expertise', but these are often accompanied by spelling errors or awkward collocations, such as 'commnly held belief', 'feilds', and 'talent people'. Basic words like 'poor', 'rich', 'money', and 'art' are recycled frequently without stylistic variation. Spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'whith', 'atension', and 'fee' (instead of fees), occur regularly. While these errors do not completely prevent the reader from grasping the general meaning, they cause noticeable difficulty and strain the reading process. This lexical profile is characteristic of Band 5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures alongside frequent, faulty attempts at complex clauses. Grammatical accuracy is weak throughout the text, featuring persistent errors in subject-verb agreement, articles, and prepositions. Examples include 'parents do not have the enough ability', 'study art major', 'at the same time it has a large popularity', and 'the talent person... has their a strong right'. Punctuation is also problematic, including lowercase letters at the beginning of clauses ('i believe') and comma splices. The majority of complex sentences contain errors that impede fluency, and basic grammatical rules are frequently broken. Because the range of structures is limited and errors occur with high frequency, causing comprehension difficulties, a Band 4.5 or 5.0 is appropriate. Awarding 5.0 reflects the presence of some correct simple structures.
