Student answer (Band 5.5)

In some countries there is growing beleif that everyone can become popular and rich in the art, music and literature. In the result people with less talent and ability become popular while real talent need to struggle for years to be successful. I partly agree with this becuase social media make popularity easier but real talent stll has importance.

Firstly, this is the era of social media nothing is ignored. People use different social media apps like instagrams, TicToc and Youtube. People become famous through entertaining content or some people become more famous for singing a small part of famous song in a beautiful way than an orignal singer. Becuse people like easy and entertaining content. Nowadays every body has access to these social media apps and millions of people can watch these entertaining content at a time. That's why people become famous and rich overnight.

Another important factor is that people prefer entertainment that is easy and accessible.Popular culture followed by the trends. Sometime people follow the trend that is currently fashionable. So Through social media's trend people become famous overnight while orignal talent have to struggle for year just to enhance skill and talent. Overnight famous people are not for long-term. But real talent struggle for long-term.

Becuase people still note and serious about the real talent.

In conclusion modern technology people become overnight famous but real talent become successfull careeer for a long-term. So real talent has significient role. Therfore popularity and ability shoul not considered the same thing.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The student addresses all parts of the task and presents a clear position throughout, stating that they partly agree with the prompt. Relevant ideas regarding social media, ease of access to popular culture, and the longevity of genuine talent are introduced and extended, such as the comparison between overnight social media sensations and long-term artists. However, some ideas are slightly repetitive and under-developed due to brief explanations, leaning towards generalisation in places. For instance, the distinction between short-term popularity and long-term success is repeated without deep elaboration. This performance aligns well with the Band 6 descriptors, as all parts are addressed and a clear stance is maintained, but ideas lack full, sophisticated expansion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised, although paragraph breaks and internal flow feel somewhat disjointed at times, such as the isolated, fragmented sentence 'Becuase people still note and serious about the real talent.' Cohesive devices are attempted (e.g., 'Firstly', 'Another important factor', 'In conclusion'), but referencing and linking are occasionally faulty or mechanical, as seen in awkward transitional phrases like 'In the result' or 'So Through social media's trend'. Progression is discernible, yet the overall cohesion requires tighter management to reach a higher band level. These features correspond directly to the Band 6 descriptors for Coherence and Cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating topic-related terms such as 'entertainment', 'content', 'overnight', and 'long-term'. Attempts are made to use less common vocabulary and phrases (e.g., 'genuine talent', 'accessibility', 'significant role'), but there are noticeable spelling and word-choice inaccuracies throughout the text, such as 'beleif', 'becuase', 'orignal', and 'every body'. Additionally, phrasing like 'note and serious about' reveals limitations in collocation. Although these errors are frequent, they do not impede communication, as the writer's core message remains understandable. This sits comfortably within the Band 5.5 to 6.0 range, solidifying a Band 6 score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and subordinate conjunctions such as 'people who become more famous for singing' and 'while orignal talent have to struggle'. However, there is a lack of control over grammatical structures, resulting in frequent errors including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'real talent need to struggle', 'orignal talent have to'), missing articles, and awkward punctuation. Furthermore, sentence fragments like 'In conclusion modern technology people become overnight famous...' disrupt grammatical flow. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they restrict the response to a Band 5.0, as the frequency of grammatical mistakes and faulty complex structures prevents higher-band attainment.
