In some countries today, there is an attitude that 'anyone can do it' in the arts - music, literature, acting, art, etc. As a result, people with no talent become rich and famous and genuine talent is not valued or appreciated.

You should use your own ideas, knowledge and experience and support your arguments with examples and relevant evidence.

Student answer (Band 5.0)

In todays rapidly evolving world, becoming an artist has become a matter of publc interest. Prompting widespread debate regarding its impact on individuals and society. While some people believe that anyone can become an artist, others argue that art belong to only skilled individuals. I strongly disagree the idea that art have any thing to take with degrees or classes, its sheer a blessing. As it is evident that some non artists are making substantial fortune by showcasing their art (music, literature and acting).

As it is evident that people admire their work and spend their money to support the artist they like. Substantial love from people is the the biggest proof for an atist that he/she is doing good, whether he/she has some trainings or not. On social media people follow artists without knowing, from where they learned, how much trained they are, and this follow count and other data base generates income for an artist, furthetmore, he gets chances to become popular and gets access to some paid events on theaters, art galleries, weddings and other gatherings.

Conversely, as far as the point of being a real talent remained unvalued or unappreciated is concerned, the only possible reason near me could be being not talented because if someone has talent, he would be appreciated. There might be some other reasons for such coatic condition of an artist but not the one suspected. They only need to use right plateform to showcase their talent rather than blaming other.

To conclude, I firmly maintain that art do not need any certificate. This is primarily because of not using the right plateform and blaming others further reinforces this standpoint. Consequently, embracing this perceptive would not only benefit the individials but also contribute to the development and overall wellbeing of the society.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that art does not require formal training or degrees and that public appreciation validates genuine talent. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. While the writer attempts to support their position by mentioning social media, financial success, and platforms, the arguments lack depth and rely heavily on generalisations. Sentences such as 'art belong to only skilled individuals' and 'they only need to use right plateform' touch upon the prompt's themes but fail to fully explore the nuance of whether unearned fame undermines genuine talent. Therefore, the response aligns best with Band 5, as it addresses the task partially and lacks sufficient elaboration on key points.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay is divided into four paragraphs, showing an attempt at logical organisation, but the progression of ideas is frequently disrupted by poor sentence structure and referencing errors. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or inaccurately, such as starting a sentence with 'As it is evident that' repeatedly, which creates a repetitive and disjointed flow. Furthermore, pronoun referencing is often confusing, as seen in phrases like 'the only possible reason near me could be being not talented'. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion lacks clarity and smooth transitions, placing this response firmly in Band 5.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The lexical range is limited and minimally adequate for discussing the topic. The student attempts some less common vocabulary items such as 'substantial fortune', 'widespread debate', and 'showcasing', but these are offset by frequent spelling mistakes ('publc', 'atist', 'furthetmore', 'coatic', 'plateform', 'perceptive', 'individials') and word-choice errors, such as 'sheer a blessing' instead of 'purely a blessing'. While the meaning can generally be deciphered, the numerous lexical errors and lack of sophisticated control prevent the response from achieving a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control over grammar and punctuation is weak. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement and preposition use, such as 'art belong', 'art have any thing to take', and 'disagree the idea'. Punctuation is also problematic, with sentence fragments and comma splices interrupting the flow, such as 'Prompting widespread debate' and 'its sheer a blessing. As it is evident that...'. Because frequent errors cause noticeable difficulty for the reader and impede smooth reading, a Band 5 is appropriate.
