Student answer (Band 6.0)
In contemporary society, there is an attitude that 'anyone can do it' in the arts. Therefore, people with no talent become rich and famous and genuine talent is not valued. I agree with this view because of social media influence and technological advancement.
A particularly noteworthy reason why individuals with no talent become rich and famous is its potential to use social media to gain fame. This can largely be attributed to the fact that most people can access internet, thereby enabling them to follow social media content with ease. In practical terms, people without talent can use AI to edit their information, and post it on common social media platforms such as Facebook. As a result, viewers may like their content, which may in turn make them popular compared to those with real talent. When they gain fame, they can sell their artwork, which allows them to earn money, eventually making them rich. In the long run, individuals with genuine talent are not appreciated.
Another compelling argument in favor of the view that people feel anyone can do art is because of recent advancements in technology, which enables people with computer skills to create a good content. This is particularly significant because they only require computer skills, despite being untalented. As a consequence, individuals with real talent compete with AI in art creation, which makes it hard for them to prosper. Therefore people develop an attitude that anyone can make it in art.
To conclude, I agree that people have an attitude that 'anyone can do it' in arts because of technological advancement. As a result, individuals with no talent become rich and famous and genuine talent is not valued due to social media influence.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position agreeing with the view and providing two main supporting arguments: social media influence and technological advancement. The main ideas are generally relevant and extended, such as explaining how people can access the internet and use AI to edit information. However, the development of ideas tends to be somewhat repetitive and lacks specific, concrete examples outside of general statements about Facebook and AI. While the position is clear throughout, the arguments would benefit from deeper elaboration and more specific real-world illustrations to reach a higher band. Overall, the response addresses all parts of the task appropriately, aligning well with the Band 6 descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. Cohesive devices are used to link sentences and paragraphs, such as 'Therefore', 'A particularly noteworthy reason', 'Another compelling argument', and 'To conclude'. However, referencing and transitions are sometimes mechanical or repetitive, such as the recurring use of 'As a result'. Logical progression is present, but transitions between sentences can feel formulaic rather than flexible, which places this response comfortably in the Band 6 category.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range for the task, successfully incorporating topic-related terms such as 'contemporary society', 'technological advancement', 'genuine talent', and 'artwork'. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'noteworthy reason' and 'compelling argument'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and phrasing, such as 'potential to use social media to gain fame' (referring to a reason) and 'create a good content' (uncountable noun misuse). Nevertheless, these lexical errors do not impede communication, supporting a Band 6 score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The essay exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, using relative clauses ('people without talent can use AI to edit their information, and post it...') and conditional structures. There are several grammatical errors and awkward phrasings present throughout the text, such as 'is its potential to use' where subject-referent agreement is flawed, and 'access internet' missing the article 'the'. Punctuation is generally acceptable, and while the errors occasionally cause slight hesitation, they rarely impede overall communication. This performance aligns well with the criteria for Band 6.
