Student answer (Band 5.0)

In today’s world, as the way of living is changing, the attitude of people is also changed. Nowadays, it is more often seen that people think they can do anything because of the influence on other on social media and also this attitude is very common to be positive for themselves. This can result less appreciation for talented people. Thus, this essay will discuss to either agree or disagree with this statement.

Many talented person are not getting much recognition or appreciation because of the people who take over their role despite of having less talent and not much knowledge. People are getting influenced easily by people and tend to work like them which creates an unhealthy competition. In addition, people with higher political support get famous as nepotism.

Furthermore, nowadays people see the audience and views instead of talent as a result a non-talented person gets a movie instead of a talented actor. For example, my cousin brother has assigned a movie because he have 10 million followers and a large amount of views on his channel, but he is not a talented actor, he is a daily vlogger. Moreover, having this kind of attitude and much hard work gets you a job or role where a talented person do not make much efforts.

To conclude, although it is good positive attitude to have “Anyone can do it”, but talent is also very important. I agree with the statement that talented people are ignored and normal people get fame and money because of this attitude which includes several factors like nepotism, social acceptance and cheating.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the statement regarding whether genuine talent is undervalued due to the 'anyone can do it' attitude. The writer takes a clear position, stating agreement with the prompt. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. While points are made about social media influence, nepotism, and views/followers, the arguments lack deep elaboration and rely on generalized assertions rather than robust supporting evidence. The personal example provided ('my cousin brother') is too anecdotal and informal for an Academic task. Overall, the response meets the baseline requirements for addressing all parts of the task, but the ideas remain under-developed, aligning best with Band 5.0 descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay displays a basic logical organization with a clear introduction and conclusion. Paragraphing is attempted, though the body paragraphs are somewhat brief and lack smooth internal transitions. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often mechanical or repetitive, such as 'Furthermore', 'Moreover', and 'To conclude'. Additionally, referencing is sometimes unclear, for instance in the opening paragraph where pronouns like 'other' and 'themselves' create confusion. There is a general progression of ideas, but the overall cohesion feels disjointed in places due to awkward phrasing and abrupt shifts between sentences. This performance fits comfortably within the Band 5.0 criteria.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally basic and repetitive, with frequent reliance on everyday words like 'people', 'talent', and 'famous'. There are noticeable lexical errors and inappropriate word choices, such as 'cousin brother' (an Indian Englishism), 'has assigned a movie' instead of 'was cast in a movie', and 'do not make much efforts' instead of 'make much effort'. While the writer attempts some less common vocabulary like 'nepotism' and 'appreciation', the limited range and frequent inaccuracies in word choice and collocation restrict the score to Band 5.0, as these errors occasionally cause difficulty for the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but attempts at complex structures are frequently faulty. For example, the sentence 'Nowadays, it is more often seen that people think they can do anything because of the influence on other on social media and also this attitude is very common to be positive for themselves' is convoluted and grammatically flawed. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('Many talented person are'), tense inconsistencies ('attitude is also changed'), and preposition errors ('influence on' instead of 'influence of'). Because these frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader, the grammar aligns with Band 5.0.
