In some countries today, there is an attitude that 'anyone can do it' in the arts - music, literature, acting, art, etc. As a result, people with no talent become rich and famous and genuine talent is not valued or appreciated.
Do you agree or disagree?
You should use your own ideas, knowledge and experience and support your arguments with examples and relevant evidence.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
In a number of states today, there is belief that anyone can flourish in the field of arts. This leads to talentless individuals gaining fame and money that an actual skilled person is more worthy of. I strongly agree to this statement because at present social media is readily promoting pretend artists and one of the main reason for their fame is their rich background.
Social media has been a major source for the coming-out of many artists. The people who lack talent but want to be content creators as a quick way of earning make use of social media, upload short videos often of fake acting, auto-tuned singing and copy-righted art. They buy most of their followers and team to make things look genuine for their audience and grasps the attention of doom-scrollers and children who don not know any better. Such so-called artists do not particularly care for who watches as long they get the views and make their earning. For instance, the growing trend of AI-generated art clips are muffling the reach of real artists.
Another reason why such people get all the fame and riches is due to fact that most of them come from a wealthy background. Using nepotism they manage a place among the deserving occupants of art presentation events. There are a lot of closeted singers, dancers, poets, painters, and actors out there who only manage to release a few bits and pieces of their ability to the world and eventually go away, since they can not afford to focus on art as a career choice. Then there are also artists who have a considerable amount of viewrship but still are not able to reach the heights of billboards due to other over-hyped artists. Like Fouzia, despite her having outstanding songs, we only see Taylor Swift on the big screens repeatedly due to the unnecessary hype and money game.
In summary, there is a notion put forward in some countries that worthy artists are not getting their rightful place in the art world as unskilled and over-rated individuals tend to take the lead. This is substaintially true in my opinion, considering how the trends diminish the value of talented people of art and promote those who have money to buy fame.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task and presents a clear position throughout, successfully meeting the requirements for a mid-level score while pushing slightly higher. The writer states their strong agreement early on and maintains this viewpoint. Ideas regarding the influence of social media and the role of wealthy backgrounds in modern art are introduced and supported with relevant examples, such as the mention of AI-generated art clips and the comparison between independent artists and mainstream stars like Taylor Swift. However, some of these ideas remain slightly under-developed rather than fully extended; for instance, the point regarding nepotism and wealthy backgrounds is introduced but not fully elaborated with deep analysis. The response shows a clear awareness of the prompt and successfully presents an argument, displaying characteristics of fully addressing the task while retaining some limitations in idea extension.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a logical progression of ideas from introduction to conclusion. Paragraphing is used sufficiently, with each body paragraph focusing on a distinct aspect of the argument, such as social media manipulation and financial privilege. Cohesive devices are used to link sentences and paragraphs, though referencing is sometimes a little mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'such people' and 'such so-called artists'. While the organizational structure is clear and allows the reader to follow the writer's line of thought easily, the cohesion occasionally lacks the sophisticated flow required for higher bands, showing occasional awkward transitions between ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, providing enough range to communicate the writer's ideas effectively. There are successful attempts to use less common and topic-specific vocabulary, such as 'doom-scrollers', 'auto-tuned', 'nepotism', and 'viewership'. However, there are noticeable word choice and spelling errors that occasionally detract from precision, such as 'viewrship', 'substaintially', and 'copy-righted' instead of 'copyrighted'. Collocations are occasionally unnatural, such as 'coming-out of many artists' instead of 'emergence of many artists'. These limitations place the lexical range firmly at the mid-level, where meaning is conveyed clearly despite recurring slips in spelling and lexical control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an ability to construct multi-clause sentences such as 'The people who lack talent but want to be content creators as a quick way of earning make use of social media...' There are several instances of good grammatical control, but also a number of errors in grammar and punctuation. These include prepositions and articles within grammatical patterns, such as 'due to fact that', missing articles before singular nouns, and minor punctuation issues like comma splices or missing commas before dependent clauses ('as long they get the views'). Fortunately, these errors rarely impede communication, allowing the reader to grasp the intended meaning without severe difficulty, which aligns well with a mixed range of structures and controlled error frequency.
