Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task and presents a clear position throughout, agreeing with the statement. In the introduction and body paragraphs, you present relevant ideas regarding how social media influences fame and how genuine talent is still valued. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. For instance, your first body paragraph introduces social media and commercial interests, which is a good supporting point, but it remains somewhat repetitive and under-developed regarding how non-talented individuals actually affect genuine artists. To move to a higher level, you should extend your arguments further by providing more specific real-world examples and deeper explanations instead of restating the same points in different ways.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to use paragraphing to separate different ideas. You make use of basic cohesive devices such as 'On the other hand' and 'In conclusion' to signal the structure of your writing. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes hindered by mechanical cohesion and referencing issues. For example, sentences such as 'One reason why I agree with this view because...' lack necessary linking elements and disrupt the flow of reading. Furthermore, the conclusion largely repeats sentences from earlier paragraphs without adding new organizational value, resulting in a repetitive structure. To achieve a higher standard, ensure that every paragraph flows logically into the next with smoother transitions and clearer referencing of ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to discuss the arts, fame, and social media with some success. You attempt less common vocabulary such as 'controversial content' and 'public recognition'. However, there are noticeable word choice, word form, and spelling errors throughout the text that demonstrate limited precision. For instance, you wrote 'artist' instead of 'artists', 'impotent' instead of 'important', 'famous easier' instead of 'fame easier', and 'artiest' instead of 'artists'. Additionally, phrasing such as 'people have become without genuine talent can rich' contains severe collocation and word-form inaccuracies. To improve, focus on expanding your control of word forms and ensuring that your chosen vocabulary precisely matches the grammatical context of your sentences.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writing demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures such as subordinate clauses with 'although' and 'because'. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. You struggle with subject-verb agreement and missing verbs, as seen in sentences like 'Nowadays, many countries growing belief' and 'One reason why I agree with this view because social media makes famous easier'. Punctuation is also problematic, particularly with run-on sentences and comma splices, such as 'people can become famous through Instagram, YouTube, and other social platforms. people have become without talent...'. To reach the next level, you need to work on forming error-free complex sentences and maintaining accurate grammatical boundaries.
