In some countries today, there is an attitude that 'anyone can do it' in the arts - music, literature, acting, art, etc. As a result, people with no talent become rich and famous and genuine talent is not valued or appreciated.
Do you agree or disagree?
You should use your own ideas, knowledge and experience and support your arguments with examples and relevant evidence.
Student answer (Band 4.0)
At the past era, people know the real talent and support that weather a person is from a good background or not, nowadays everyone think that they can do anything in arts like singing, acting, litrature, and art etc, due to which talented peoples are not valued and the people with zero talent become wealthy and well-known. I belive that this is not good because almost the majorty of art talented peoples are from poor family, so the only option for them is merit based.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
The response only partially addresses the prompt due to the extremely limited length of 85 words, which falls significantly short of the 250-word minimum requirement. While the writer manages to express a basic personal position regarding the idea that untalented people become wealthy in the arts, the ideas remain heavily restricted, underdeveloped, and lack the necessary supporting examples or evidence to explore the topic fully. Because the word count is far below the minimum limit, the development of the argument is severely curtailed, which prevents a more thorough exploration of the prompt and confines the response to this low band.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response shows some basic overall organization, presenting an initial viewpoint and a concluding belief within a single continuous block of text. However, there is no clear paragraphing, and information and ideas are not arranged in a coherent, progressive manner. The use of cohesive devices is minimal and mechanical, relying heavily on run-on structures and basic connectors like 'at the past era' and 'due to which' rather than managing a smooth logical progression. Referencing and logical transitions between ideas are frequently unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow a structured line of argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, representing a limited range that is only minimally adequate for expressing simple thoughts. There are noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word form, such as 'litrature', 'talented peoples', and 'majorty', which occasionally cause strain for the reader. The writer attempts some less common terms like 'merit based' and 'background', but the overall lexical control lacks precision and flexibility. There is little evidence of sophisticated collocation or style, keeping the vocabulary score within this range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The grammatical range is very limited, consisting predominantly of a single long, convoluted sentence structure with faulty coordination. Attempts at complex clauses are inaccurate, as seen in expressions like 'support that weather a person is from a good background or not'. There are frequent errors in verb tenses ('At the past era, people know'), prepositions, plurals, and article usage. These errors are prominent and occasionally cause difficulty for the reader in interpreting the intended meaning, reflecting a lack of control over basic and complex grammatical patterns alike.
