Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response addresses the prompt minimally, presenting a clear position of agreement regarding untalented individuals gaining fame and wealth in the arts. However, the ideas are presented in a very limited and under-developed manner. For instance, the mention of an incident seen on social media lacks clear connection and is muddled by vague details, such as 'harsh noises' and a poor person begging for money. While the writer touches upon the core theme that genuine talent is overlooked, the arguments lack sufficient extension, relevant evidence, and proper structure. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to present well-developed ideas with clear supporting examples rather than relying on a single, confusing personal anecdote.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The information and ideas are not arranged in a coherent manner throughout the text. The entire response consists of only two extremely long, run-on sentences with virtually no paragraph breaks or appropriate punctuation. Cohesive devices are either missing or misused, with repetitive structures and awkward transitions like 'moreover recently i have watch' and 'however this video has got viral'. Referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of thought. To improve, the writer must organise ideas into distinct paragraphs with clear topic sentences and use logical cohesive ties to connect sentences smoothly.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, employing a limited range that strains the reader's understanding. There are frequent lexical errors in word choice, word form, and spelling, such as 'Now a days', 'upgrading there life', 'they opportunity', 'financial people are have more power', 'pirty', and 'disgusing'. These errors and the restricted vocabulary make the text difficult to parse in several places. To progress, the writer needs to build a broader range of vocabulary, use less common items with greater awareness of style and collocation, and improve control over basic spelling and word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response displays a very limited range of structures, relying heavily on long, poorly punctuated compound-complex sentences that strain meaning. Errors are frequent across articles, verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions within grammatical patterns, such as 'i agree with given statement', 'people are go in wrong way', and 'we should not give over talent'. Punctuation is largely neglected, resulting in giant run-on blocks of text. To achieve a higher score, the writer must demonstrate better control over simple and complex sentence forms, use correct grammatical boundaries, and significantly reduce the frequency of basic grammatical errors.
