Student answer (Band 5.0)

In some countries many people believe that sunjects like art, music, literature and acting can be done by anyone, even a nill student can perform better in arts. But from my perspective even though science is a bit hard but still arts is also not that easy to master, it needs passion and dedication. Only the worthy one should be given chance in these fields.

First of all, I think that this is a talent which not everyone have like I am good in science does not mean that I can also become a good singer or an actor. Son of a famous director should not be gieven a chance in acting industry on the basis of his family network but on the basis of his acting skills. He should not be given a role which could have been performed better by another person. Due to this particular reason people with no talent get chance and become rich and famous while talented artists are struggling around to make both ends meet.

Secondly, there an example from my college life during a sports festival a slim guy was selected in tug of war as he had already signed but even any muscular and strong students got a chance to know about the competition. Son of world's richest person has way more opportunities than any other middle class student. He can become manager of anyof his father's company while a more talented person will be working as his assistant

To sum up, I believe that it is a genuine issue which should be sorted out and people's should change that attituede towards the subjects they don't know. Change in attitude can give prosperity and fame to the worthy ones.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is broadly clear: you argue that artistic ability requires talent and dedication, and that opportunities should be based on merit rather than family connections. The example of a director’s son and the contrast between famous and struggling artists are relevant to the prompt. However, the response only partly develops the central claim about people without talent becoming rich and famous while genuine talent is undervalued. The college tug-of-war example is difficult to connect to the arts, and the comparison involving a wealthy person’s company shifts away from the question. Explain more directly how fame, money, and public recognition are awarded in the arts, and support each example with clearer reasoning.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion, and signposts such as “First of all,” “Secondly,” and “To sum up” help identify the stages of the argument. However, the overall progression is uneven: the second body paragraph moves from a college sports event to inherited business opportunities without clearly linking either example to artistic recognition. Some connections between sentences are also abrupt, and the conclusion introduces a broad call for people to change their attitudes rather than drawing together the main points. Build each paragraph around one relevant reason, then use a clear explanation to show how its example supports your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “talent,” “dedication,” “acting skills,” and “struggling,” which makes your general meaning understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “a nill student,” “given chance,” “get chance,” and “make both ends meet” in this context. Spelling errors, including “sunjects,” “gieven,” and “attituede,” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise language about artistic merit and recognition, and check spelling and natural word combinations. For example, “receive an opportunity” or “be awarded a role” would express your points more clearly than “get chance.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast with “even though” and a reason introduced by “Due to this particular reason.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. Examples include “this is a talent which not everyone have,” “there an example from my college life,” and “even any muscular and strong students got a chance.” There are also problems with articles, agreement, and sentence construction, as in “Only the worthy one should be given chance.” Practise building accurate clauses first, then combine them; check subject–verb agreement and ensure each sentence has a complete main clause.
