Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, becoming a famous is very trending among the world. Social media gives people a wide platform to show their abilities in fields like music, literature, acting, are, etc and become more famous with zero abilities and talents. I agree with this statement that social media often prioritises popularity over ability and commercial interests can overshadow genuine artistic merit.

Firstly, social media creates instant fame to the people around the worldwide. Social media platform allows everyone to become famous without any special albites and professional trainings. people often gain followers through controversial videos, attractive appearance or entertaining content rather than genuine skills. As a result, popularity become more important rather than artistic ability. People make more money and become rich by only controversial videos and attractive appearance. For example, a person posting funny video on the social media and gain millions of followers, while highly skill musician may struggle to gain popularity.

Secondly, companies often promote artists with less ability. Advertising, sponsorships and collaborations with popular people or company help unprofessional people to become more rich and famous and earn more money then professional artists. Sometime people with high talent receive less amount of money because of promotional opportunity.

On the other side, people with less ability have their fame for the less time because of less professionalism. People with zero talent can not bare high pressure because of unprofessionalism.

In conclusion, modern society believe more in the social media rather than the genuine artist's ability so it is easy for people with less talent to become famous and rich.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you agree that popularity and commercial promotion can outweigh artistic ability. The two main points—social media fame and companies promoting popular figures—are relevant, and the example contrasting a funny-video creator with a skilled musician helps illustrate the first. However, the response only partly develops the task. The claim that less-talented people lose fame quickly is introduced in “On the other side” but is not supported with an example or explanation, and the effect on genuine artists is asserted rather than explored. To strengthen the response, explain how this trend affects talented artists and develop each main point with a specific, plausible example. Keep the focus on the task’s broader claim about talent being undervalued, not only on social media fame.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two supporting paragraphs, a contrasting point, and a conclusion. “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “In conclusion” make the sequence easy to follow, and the example in the first body paragraph is placed appropriately. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes repetitive: the first body paragraph repeats that people become famous and rich through controversial or attractive content without adding much explanation. The transition “On the other side” signals contrast, but the point that fame is temporary is not clearly connected to the earlier argument or the conclusion. Use clearer links between claims and their consequences, and develop the contrast before moving on. More precise referencing would also help readers follow who is being discussed.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “followers,” “sponsorships,” “collaborations,” “professional artists,” and “artistic ability,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, spelling, and collocation errors make the writing less precise. Examples include “becoming a famous,” “very trending,” “zero abilities,” and “promotional opportunity”; these do not express the intended ideas naturally. “Abilities” is also misspelled as “albites,” and “are” appears where “art” is intended. Repetition of “famous,” “rich,” and “ability” further restricts the vocabulary. Build a bank of accurate phrases for discussing artistic merit and commercial success, and check spelling and collocations when editing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts both simple and more complex sentences, such as the sentence beginning “For example” and the contrast introduced by “while.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to affect fluency. Subject–verb agreement is inconsistent in “popularity become” and “modern society believe”; articles and sentence construction are also problematic in “becoming a famous” and “Social media creates instant fame to the people.” The example sentence, “a person posting funny video … and gain millions,” does not maintain a consistent grammatical structure. Capitalisation after full stops is inconsistent, as in “people often gain.” Practise accurate sentence patterns, especially agreement, articles, and complete clauses, then proofread each sentence for a clear subject and verb.
