Student answer (Band 5.0)
In today's world, many people believe that there is an attitude that 'anyone can do it' in the arts - music, literature, acting, art, etc. As a result, people with no talent become rich and famous and genuine talent is not valued or appreciated. I completely agree with this view because this can increase the competition in any categories and increases the nepotism in any field.
Firstly, this attitude increases the amount of competition in any art form. If more number of people participate in any particular art, they are more likely to increase the amount of competition. This can become a threat for talented individuals. Secondly, it can also affects a particular art form. This is because if a large number of untalented people takes part in any form, they may perform in an inappropriate manner, which can ruin a particular form. Thus, it negatively affects the arts.
Additionally, this belief can increase the nepotism in any particular art form. Individuals may try to enter a art form without giving any audition or trial, which can affect the art form. This can lead to decrease in the number of talented people in the department. Furthermore, this view can also increase the stress for talented candidates. This is because the more the competition increases, the lesser the chance for the individuals for getting selected. Therefore, this situation can discourage the talented canditates from participating in any art forms.
In conclusion, I strongly agree that people with no talent become rich and famous and genuine talent is not valued or appreciated because this can increase the competition and affects a particular art form. In addition, this method can increase the nepotism in any form and also increases the stress on talented candidates.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
Your position is clear: you strongly agree that people without talent can gain fame while genuine talent is overlooked. You offer relevant points about competition, pressure on talented artists, and nepotism. However, these ideas are mostly asserted rather than explained with specific examples or evidence; for instance, the claim that untalented participants can “ruin a particular form” is not illustrated, and the link between the attitude in the prompt and nepotism is unclear. The response therefore addresses the question only minimally, with limited development of its central argument. It also falls short of the required minimum: 238 words were counted, and 52 words copied from the prompt were excluded. Develop one or two reasons with a concrete example and explain how each supports your position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” “Additionally,” and “Furthermore” help signal the order of points. However, progression is limited because several claims repeat the same idea: increased competition is mentioned in both body paragraphs and again in the conclusion, without a new step in the argument. Some connections are also unclear, particularly the move from people entering the arts to nepotism. The repeated use of “This is because” and “This can” makes cohesion mechanical, while references such as “this method” in the conclusion are not precise. Group related points, explain their links, and use referencing that clearly identifies the idea being discussed.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the general argument, including “competition,” “nepotism,” “talented candidates,” and “art form.” However, the range is limited and several phrases are repetitive or imprecise, such as “in any particular art form” and “a particular form.” Some word combinations are unnatural, including “increase the amount of competition” and “increase the stress for talented candidates.” There are also spelling errors in “canditates” and “a art form.” These choices do not prevent the reader from understanding the main points, but they reduce precision and sometimes make the argument sound awkward. Aim for more varied, accurate collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, describe how competition “intensifies” and how artists face “greater pressure.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including conditional structures such as “If more number of people participate…” and explanations introduced by “This is because.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in sentence construction and agreement. Examples include “it can also affects” (the modal should be followed by the base verb), “a large number of untalented people takes part” (the subject requires plural agreement), and “the lesser the chance” in a comparison structure. Articles and sentence patterns also need attention in “enter a art form” and “the chance for the individuals for getting selected.” These errors can make some sentences difficult to process. Practise modal verb patterns, subject–verb agreement, and comparative structures, then proofread each sentence for a clear grammatical frame.
