Student answer (Band 5.5)
People with no talent have become rich and famous, while genuine talent is not valued because of the attitude that 'anyone can do it' in arts. I believe this attitude makes genuine talent feel unappreciated.
The excessive use of auto-tune has made people think that anybody can sing and become famous as long as they have money to produce it. These days a melodious voice or sense of music are not the criterias to enter the music industry. Rich individuals with no genuine talent use devices like auto- tune to make their voices melodious and produce their music albums, while people with genuine talent does not get their break through because of them. Talented people do audition after audition but still do not get the chance to make a music album because the producer choose a rich person who can pay them because they think with auto-tune anybody can sound good. For instance, recently a famous Punjabi singer has been in news because he tried singing live on a TV show and that is when people realized that how different he sounds in real life and all his work are simply made by using auto-tune.
In conclusion, modern devices that are actually made to enhance talent are used by rich people to take opportunities away from people with actual talent and have developed the attitude that 'anyone can do it' in arts like music, literature, acting, art, etc. This attitude makes talented people feel unvalued and unapperciated because they are told again and again that anybody can do what they do and they do not have talent.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
Your position is clear: you agree that the “anyone can do it” attitude can leave genuine talent unappreciated. The example of auto-tune gives the response a relevant focus, and the account of a singer sounding different live helps illustrate your concern. However, the discussion addresses the wider arts only briefly, despite the prompt naming music, literature, acting and art. The claim that producers choose people who can pay is asserted rather than supported, and the effect on talented artists is repeated more than developed. To strengthen the response, explain the causes and consequences in more depth, and add a second distinct example or acknowledge how audiences and industry professionals may still recognise genuine ability.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an opening position, a body paragraph focused on music, and a concluding restatement. The ideas within the body generally follow a cause-and-effect sequence, from auto-tune to producers’ choices and the impact on talented singers. However, most of the argument is concentrated in one long paragraph, and the conclusion repeats the opening claim rather than bringing together developed points. Linking phrases such as “These days,” “while,” and “For instance” help guide the reader, but connections between claims are sometimes abrupt. For clearer progression, separate the main points into paragraphs and use transitions that show how each example supports the central argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “auto-tune,” “genuine talent,” “music industry,” and “audition,” so the main ideas are understandable. There are also attempts at more specific phrasing, such as “melodious voice” and “take opportunities away.” However, the range is somewhat repetitive, particularly in repeated references to talent and being unappreciated, and some word choices or forms are inaccurate: “criterias,” “break through,” and “unapperciated.” “Produce their music albums” is also an awkward collocation. Aim for more precise alternatives and check spelling and word forms carefully; this will make the argument sound more natural and allow you to express distinctions between ability, recognition and commercial success.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mixture of simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “because,” “while,” and “as long as.” These structures help explain relationships between ideas, and the overall meaning remains clear. However, errors in agreement and sentence construction recur. For example, “people with genuine talent does not get” should use a plural verb, and “the producer choose” also needs agreement. In “that is when people realized that how different he sounds,” the clause structure is faulty; use “realised how different he sounded.” The final sentence is long and would be clearer if divided. Work on subject–verb agreement, reported speech and controlling long sentences while retaining your attempts at complex structures.
