Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent places today, people are seen with the attitude that 'anyone can do it' when in comes to arts - muic, literature, acting, arts etc due to which people with little to no talent become rich and people wit talent stay behind.

I agree with that statement and I will express my opinion through this essay.

To begin, with rise of social media like instagram, youtube and tiktok have a leading role and has made life easier for those how have a very less talent. This platforms reward on the basis of popularity and relativity rather than foucing on talent and creativity. Individuals who create a simple and repetitive content get views and likes in millions. While people with actual talent and capability does not reach that level of popularity, depite working hard on their music, art. This suggest that success not always reflects through genuine art and talent.

However, it would be naive to assume that only talented people deserve to be famous and rich. Creativity is not a inherited quality; it is something that can be developed through years of hardwork and training. For instance a person who likes to sing does not mean he or she is bron with that talent. They might have worked hard enough and through years of practice that individual got the ability to simg like a true artist. On the other hand art is something that depends completley on the perspective of an individual, somone who like one form of art might not like the other forms of art and vice-versa.

In conclusion. although social media platforms rewards popularity over excellence. I do not belive that this makes talented people less valuable.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You give a clear overall view: you agree that popularity can reward people with little talent, while your conclusion adds that this does not make genuine talent less valuable. The discussion of social media is relevant, and the singing example helps explain how ability can be developed through practice. However, the response only partly resolves the question’s central claim that genuine talent is not valued or appreciated. Your final position is therefore somewhat difficult to reconcile with the opening agreement. The points about popularity and subjective taste are also asserted more than fully explained or supported. Make your position consistent throughout, and develop each main point with a specific example and a clearer link to the question.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the ideas generally follow a sensible order. Paragraph openings such as “To begin” and “However” signal a shift in argument. At times, though, the progression is weakened by unclear or mechanical connections. The first body paragraph begins with an incomplete construction (“with rise of social media … have a leading role”), and the relationship between the claim about popularity and the later point about subjective taste is not made explicit. The conclusion also introduces a contrast without clearly resolving the position stated at the start. Use complete topic sentences, connect each example directly to its main claim, and make the conclusion restate a consistent answer.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “popularity,” “creativity,” “capability,” “genuine art,” and “years of practice.” These choices allow the reader to follow the main ideas, but the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation and spelling errors make the writing less precise. Examples include “recent places” for “some countries today,” “relativity” where “relatability” is intended, and “simple and repetitive content,” which could be expressed more precisely as “formulaic content.” There are also misspellings such as “muic,” “foucing,” and “depite.” Build a more accurate range of topic-specific expressions and proofread spelling; this will make your argument clearer and more natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a contrast with “While people with actual talent…” and a conditional example beginning “For instance.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity. For example, “with rise of social media … have a leading role” lacks a clear subject and has incorrect agreement; “This platforms reward” has a demonstrative and agreement error; and “people with actual talent … does not reach” has a plural subject with a singular verb. Sentence fragments and punctuation also appear, including “In conclusion.” followed by a separate clause. Practise building complete sentences with clear subjects and correctly matched verbs, and check articles, plurals and punctuation during revision.
