Do you agree or disagree?

You should use your own ideas, knowledge and experience and support your arguments with examples and relevant evidence.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

There is a controversy in many societies that suggests that artistic frields, including music, literature and acting are accessible to anyone. This lead to a scenario where untalented individuals are becomming wealthy and well-known, while others with genuin talent are unrecognized. In my openion, I disagree with the former opinion, which is that authentic talents are entirely unappreciated.

On the one hand, it is undeniable that modern tecnology and social media has made the road of fame accessible to anybody, which allowed random individuals to try their luck and share their false experiences of arts to catch people's attention. Unfortunately, some people are using these digital platforms to track the latest trends, regardless of the consequences. For this reason, it is not surprising to see random individuals dancing with silly moves or singing with their unpleasent voices and still get millions of views on their videos.

On the other hand, I believe that the community can recognize the authentic talents for the fake ones. Although the unreal content seems to capture the public's attention more quickly, but real talents have their own faithful audience who support their talents for years, and not just following the wind. For example, A random person may become famous because of a stroke of luck, but when people eventually forget the trend, they will turn this full attention back into the original talets who really deserve their fame.

In conclusion, while the digital age has made it easier to access the world of fame and wealth for random creators, genuine talents will remain valuable. In other words, true arts will forever outweigh fake talents that will always seek temporary internet trends.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you disagree that genuine artistic talent is entirely unappreciated, while acknowledging that social media can make fame accessible to people with little ability. The two-sided structure addresses the central issue, and the examples of viral dancing and singing help illustrate the first point. However, the argument that talented artists retain a faithful audience is asserted more than demonstrated, and the final claim that “true arts will forever outweigh fake talents” is broad rather than supported. The task also raises whether untalented people become rich and famous; your discussion focuses mainly on online attention and fame, with little explanation of wealth or how recognition is distributed. Develop these points with a specific example or clearer reasoning to make the response more complete and convincing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs, and a conclusion. “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” make the shift between ideas easy to follow, and the conclusion returns to your main position. This coherent progression meets the expected standard, with some signs of stronger control in the paragraph organisation. To make the flow more consistently natural, clarify a few links between claims. For instance, the move from people following trends to “random individuals” gaining millions of views is understandable but could explain how this supports the claim about genuine talent being undervalued. The reference to “this full attention” is also unclear. Use more precise referencing and connect each example explicitly to the paragraph’s main point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “digital platforms,” “faithful audience,” “stroke of luck,” and “temporary internet trends,” which helps express the topic and your contrast between lasting and short-lived recognition. There are also attempts at less common phrasing, but several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “share their false experiences of arts,” “track the latest trends,” and “turn this full attention back into the original talents.” Spelling errors—including “frields,” “becomming,” “genuin,” and “talets”—are noticeable and reduce the overall accuracy of the vocabulary. Aim for precise collocations and check spelling carefully; this would make your ideas clearer and allow your range to work more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “individuals who really deserve their fame” and a concessive structure beginning “Although the unreal content…”. Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “This lead” needs past-tense agreement, while “social media has made …, which allowed” shifts inconsistently between present perfect and past. The sentence “Although …, but …” uses two competing conjunctions, and “authentic talents for the fake ones” lacks a clear comparison structure. These errors do not generally prevent understanding, but they limit accuracy. Practise consistent tense choices, subject–verb agreement, and building concessive sentences with either “although” or “but,” not both.
