Student answer (Band 5.5)

In several parts of the world, there is still a culture among people that "anyone can do it" in the arts-music, literature, acting, art etc. This tend to make people think that the ones becoming prominent and famous in those areas lacks all talent. Therefore, actual intellects are not getting their deserved respect and appreciation. I do not agree with this statement because every work and success in this world requires talent & hardwork to succeed in their respective areas.

People tend to consider students and scholars studying in science more talented as this has become a societal taboo among people from the beginning of the century that only doctors and engineers makes up the only successful career prospects in life. Some people still think this way due to religious perspectives too as music, acting and art tends to be against their ideals. But, the modern era has significantly improved over time and changed people's mindsets too.

As a result, nowadays lot pf people are advancing their career towards arts and music. These takes on lot of hardworks and effort to reach to a peak level. This generation mostly belongs to the use of social media platforms. These has been helping people more to become successful in achieving their goal of becoming a musician or dancer more fast. Not everyone can become a singer or artist without the required talent and efforts. A person investing their times and doing struggle in arts earns almost the same as that of an engineer or doctors income these days. If it is considered from the perspective of talents, then nothing on this earth can be gained without working hard and struggling over time. So, its not always talent that ends up bringing out the best in a human.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is stated clearly: you disagree with the claim and argue that success in the arts requires talent and hard work. You also offer relevant points about social attitudes toward science careers and the role of social media. However, the response only partly develops the central issue of whether people without talent become famous while genuine talent is overlooked. The discussion of religious views and comparisons with doctors’ and engineers’ incomes is not clearly connected to that claim, and the examples remain general rather than specific. To strengthen the response, explain how fame can differ from artistic ability and support your position with a concrete example or a more fully developed line of reasoning. The 13 words copied from the prompt are not counted.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a concluding idea, and the reader can generally follow your disagreement. Linking phrases such as “As a result” and “But” help signal relationships between points. However, progression is uneven: the first body paragraph moves from science careers to religious perspectives and then to changing mindsets without showing clearly how each point supports your argument. The final paragraph also shifts between social media, talent, income and hard work, so its main line is difficult to track. Some references, such as “These” and “This generation,” are unclear. Organise each paragraph around one central claim and use more precise links between supporting ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “prominent,” “societal,” “perspectives,” and “social media platforms,” and your meaning is usually recoverable. However, the range is limited by repeated general terms such as “people,” “talent,” “successful,” and “hard work,” while several word choices or collocations sound unnatural. For example, “actual intellects” does not naturally describe skilled artists, and “reach to a peak level” is not idiomatic. There are also spelling and word-form errors, including “pf” and “hardworks.” Aim to use more precise language for artistic skill, public recognition and achievement, and check collocations and spelling during revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a reason clause in “I do not agree … because…” and a conditional structure beginning “If it is considered…”. However, errors occur frequently and sometimes make relationships between ideas harder to follow. Examples include subject–verb agreement in “This tend” and “These takes,” and “doctors and engineers makes.” There are also problems with articles, plurals and sentence construction, as in “a peak level” and “a person investing their times.” Some long sentences combine several ideas without clear grammatical control. Practise checking agreement and noun forms, and divide sentences when they contain multiple claims; this will make your argument easier to understand.
