You should use your own ideas, knowledge and experience and support your arguments with examples and relevant evidence.

Student answer (Band 5.0)

In today's world , talent is not appreciated. There are less number of people who are talented rather than hardworking. The talent is not a talent anymore. A person having some talent is asked to teach someone else and then it can be done by any person. Everyone appreciates the hardwork , but no one appreciates the person who is already talented in that particular work or field. The ones who are talented, are having lesser value as the people who are hardworking, they are practicing from a long time. They are working for a longer time , applying more efforts , sacrificing some of the needs and dedicating all time to their work.

I agree that people become rich and famous by working hard. There are people who keep working hard to achieve the taste of success. They just put their everything to achieve success in the work they are doing. A hardworking person is appreciated as the people have seen him/her struggling and the practice and dedication he/she kept to achieve success. Most of the people take time to achieve success.

There are some particular fields where a hidden talent is there or some peole are just having that particular talent since birth. The people who have genuine talent are not appreciated as most of the people believe that the ones who are talented have won by fluke or their mindset is like how can he be successful and better than the people who have worked harder than him for so many years.People do not see hardwork of the people , but when they see and that person loses / fails, they compare it with the other person and say that how did he manage to do this.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You take a broadly clear position that genuine talent is undervalued, and you discuss how hard work can attract recognition. The points about audiences noticing a person’s struggle and assuming a talented person succeeded “by fluke” are relevant to the prompt. However, the response only partially develops the question: it does not clearly explain the claim that people with little talent become rich and famous, and it gives no specific example from music, literature, acting or another art. Some statements, such as “talent is not a talent anymore,” are difficult to interpret, while the opening claim that there are fewer talented people than hardworking people is not explained. Develop a more precise argument and support it with a concrete example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic paragraph structure: it introduces the issue, presents a view about hard work, and then discusses people with innate talent. This gives the reader some sense of organisation. However, the progression between ideas is not consistently clear, and several points repeat the contrast between talent and hard work without advancing the argument. Connections such as “There are some particular fields” do not clearly show how the next point follows from the previous one. Referencing is also sometimes confusing, especially in the final sentence, where “that person” and “the other person” are difficult to identify. Use clearer topic sentences, organise each paragraph around one main claim, and make links between examples and your position explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “genuine talent,” “dedication,” “success,” and “struggling,” so the main subject is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “hardworking,” “talented,” and “success.” Some combinations are unnatural or imprecise, such as “achieve the taste of success,” “put their everything,” and “lesser value.” Spelling and form errors, including “peole” and “hardwork,” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise language to distinguish natural ability, effort, public recognition and commercial success. For example, explain whether an artist is praised, financially rewarded or widely known rather than using “appreciated” for all these meanings.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including clauses beginning with “as” and “who,” and the overall meaning can usually be followed. However, the range is limited, and attempts to combine several ideas often produce faulty or unclear structures. For example, “The ones who are talented, are having lesser value as the people who are hardworking” has problems with sentence construction and comparison, while “There are some particular fields where a hidden talent is there” is awkwardly formed. There are also recurring issues with articles, agreement and punctuation, as in “the hardwork” and the comma before spaces. Practise building accurate complex sentences, and check each sentence for a clear subject, verb and comparison.
