IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The diagram below shows the process for making a water clock.

Write a report for a university lecturer describing the information below.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The diagram illustrate the process of making a water clock .

As we see there are 7 stages for making a water clock .

Initially, there are 2 plastic bottles which are connected to each other with the help of a stand. First bottle is sticked with stand with the help of a tape. While, the other one is placed on a stand. The straw is attached to top bottle with glue.

Firstly, we will turn on the tap and water starts to fill the bottle . Then we put the finger to cover the hole on the bottom of a top plastic bottle. We have to let the first bottle till it overflows. We have to maintain the level constant with the help of straw .

Secondly, remove the finger from the hole and let the water enter the bottom plastic bottle . There is a marker which help to check the level of water per minute. Empty the bottom plastic bottle and repeat the process to check the timing.
