Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the main parts of the task by outlining the stages of making a water clock, but some steps are under-developed or presented in a somewhat disjointed manner. The overview attempts to capture the nature of the process, noting that it contains seven steps, but the explanation lacks clarity in places, particularly when describing the setup details such as the straw insertion and calibration. Certain details from the visual prompt are slightly confused or mechanically listed rather than cohesively integrated into a flowing description of the manufacturing and testing procedure.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The text demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a discernible attempt to structure the report into an introduction, a body, and concluding steps. However, cohesion is frequently mechanical or faulty. Transition markers are sometimes used awkwardly, such as 'Turning towards the details, initially,' and referencing can be unclear, making the logical progression between sentences bumpy at times. Paragraphing is present, but the internal flow within paragraphs would benefit from smoother connecting devices to guide the reader seamlessly through the sequential stages of the diagram.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

Vocabulary is limited but minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary related to the process, such as 'portrayed', 'calibration', and 'constant', but these are accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice, form, and spelling, such as 'processer' instead of 'process', 'coverning' instead of 'covering', 'cheak' instead of 'check', and 'pencile'. These lexical slips and awkward collocations occasionally cause difficulty for the reader and restrict the precision needed for a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The text displays a limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple forms and frequently faulty attempts at complex sentences. There are frequent errors in verb forms, articles, and prepositions within grammatical patterns, such as 'Tap must be on and coverd the hole with hand fingers', 'fill the bottle for overflow', and 'untill the timinig thinks are correct'. Punctuation control is also weak in places, with missing commas and improper capitalization. These frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader throughout the response.
