Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the task only partially because the student misinterprets the nature of the diagram, describing it as 'mass manufacturing' rather than a manual process for building a water clock. While the seven steps from the visual are mentioned, they are presented with limited development and numerous inaccurate descriptions, such as 'tap on water at the end of final product plastic bottle' and 'levels per minute'. An attempt at an overview is made, but it lacks clarity and accuracy regarding the source material, leading to an underdeveloped and confused representation of the process.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The text demonstrates some organization with basic paragraphing and sequencing markers like 'Overall', 'Talking about initial step', and 'The step is finalizing step'. However, there is no clear overall progression due to confusing phrasing and logical gaps. Cohesive devices are used repetitively and sometimes inaccurately, such as 'In additionally' and 'more then followed by'. Reference words are frequently unclear, making it difficult to follow the logical flow of the instructions from one stage to the next.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

Vocabulary is limited and minimally adequate for the task, with noticeable errors that cause difficulty for the reader. The student relies on repetitive phrasing, such as 'final product plastic bottle' and 'mass manufacturing'. There are frequent word choice and spelling errors throughout the text, including 'togather' instead of 'together', 'singal' instead of 'single', 'producation' instead of 'production', 'bole' instead of 'hole', and 'over flow' instead of 'overflow'. These lexical inadequacies restrict precision and clarity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response exhibits a very limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and faulty attempts at complex clauses. There are frequent grammatical errors, including missing verbs ('the first step is tap on'), incorrect prepositions ('fill top bottle on over flow'), and persistent subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'all these steps is very important'). Punctuation errors, such as spaces before commas, also detract from the overall control. These frequent errors cause significant difficulty for the reader in understanding the intended grammar.
