Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the diagram as a process and mention several relevant stages, including turning on the tap, filling the upper bottle until it overflows, using the straw, and repeating the process to time things. However, the account is only partial: the sequence is difficult to follow, and key details such as covering the hole before filling and marking the lower bottle to show levels per minute are not clearly explained. The overview that there are seven stages is useful, but the purpose and operation of the two-bottle arrangement remain unclear. The response also falls 21 words short of the required minimum, limiting the detail you can provide. Describe the apparatus first, then report the stages in order with their functions.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is a basic attempt to organise the report, with an opening, an overview, and a sequence introduced by “At the beginning” and “after that.” These signals show some awareness of order. However, most information is compressed into one long paragraph, and the stages are not consistently presented in a clear progression. For example, “In the plastic bottle water cover hole with finger” makes it hard to tell which bottle is meant and when this action occurs. The final sequence also runs together without clear sentence boundaries. Use separate paragraphs for the overview and process, and connect each stage with simple, accurate transitions such as “Next,” “Once the bottle is full,” and “Finally.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary includes several relevant terms from the diagram, such as “plastic bottles,” “stand,” “tape,” “straw,” and “overflow,” so the reader can recognise the general subject. However, the range is limited and some word choices or collocations make the process difficult to understand. “Seven etape” is not an appropriate expression, while “the most important thing for this experience it water” does not clearly communicate the clock’s purpose. There are also spelling and word-form problems, including “maintened” and “whole” where the intended meaning appears to be “hole.” Aim for precise process vocabulary and check spelling; terms such as “upper container,” “drips,” and “calibration marks” would help describe the apparatus accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to combine ideas using clauses, for example in “At the beginning when you tap on the faucet water flows…,” but the response relies on a narrow range of sentence patterns and many sentences are difficult to parse. Errors include missing or incorrect verb forms and agreement, as in “we full up” and “this levels per minute,” as well as unclear clause construction in “that finger away from whole to the plastic bottle.” Articles and sentence boundaries are also inconsistently controlled. These problems sometimes obscure who performs an action and how the stages relate. Practise writing one clear sentence for each stage, using consistent present simple forms, for example, “Water drips through a hole into the lower bottle.”
