Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is often argued that in some countries, it can be very difficult for people over the age of 50 to get good jobs, despite their experience. It is a true statement and there are many causes of this problem such as their old method of working, their low thinking ability and many benefitted steps should be taken to solve this problem.
First of all, causes of less opportunities to acquire god jobs for people over age of 50 should be discussed. Main cause is that people over the age of fifty had learned their work too much before and that method gets old now which is not too much beneficial for companies, so, they mostly ignore the people over 50 for job. And the other reason is their thinking ability. A young worker thinks in a more innovative way than the old one because his studies are far advanced than the old worker, so the old workers do not able to get job.
There are lot of reasonable steps that can be taken to solve this problem. Like, there should be a training session for old workers so that they will be able to meet the current needs. Another step that can be driven to solve this problem is that old workers should keep their knowledge up to date by self, they should perform equally efficient to young workers so that they should not be ignored during new job offerings, during promotions.
In a conclusion, the major cause for old people to not getting job is their less efficiency in work and, they should keep them upgrade in order to acquire a job.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the question: it identifies outdated work methods and perceived differences in thinking as causes, then proposes training and keeping knowledge current as measures. These ideas are relevant, but they are only briefly explained. For example, the claim that younger workers are more innovative because their studies are advanced is asserted rather than supported with a concrete example or qualification. The proposed training is also not developed: it is unclear who would provide it or what skills it would cover. The conclusion repeats the idea of lower efficiency without drawing the causes and solutions together. To strengthen the response, explain each cause and measure more fully and support the claims with specific examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay has a clear overall arrangement, with an introduction, a paragraph on causes, a paragraph on solutions, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “First of all,” “Another step,” and “In a conclusion” helps readers follow the main stages. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, and some links between ideas are unclear. For instance, the sentence about older workers having “learned their work too much before” does not clearly explain how this leads companies to overlook them. The repeated use of “old workers” and “job” also makes the flow less smooth. Use clearer references and connect each explanation directly to the point it supports.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate its main points, including “training session,” “current needs,” “innovative,” and “promotions.” However, the range is limited, and several inaccurate or unnatural choices make some ideas difficult to understand. Examples include “god jobs,” “benefitted steps,” “their old method of working,” and “keep their knowledge up to date by self.” Repetition of “old workers” and “job” also restricts variety. Aim for more precise collocations and vary references to the group, such as “older employees” or “experienced applicants.” Checking spelling and word forms would also improve clarity; for example, “god” appears to be a misspelling of “good.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The essay attempts both simple and longer sentences, including explanations with “because” and a relative clause beginning “so that.” However, complex sentences are often not controlled successfully, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction occur throughout. For example, “the old workers do not able to get job” needs a modal construction and an article, while “there are lot of reasonable steps” is missing an article. The opening sentence also joins several ideas in a way that makes the structure difficult to follow. Practise building accurate sentences first, then extend them with one clear subordinate clause. Review subject–verb agreement and article use in particular.
