Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: causes and solutions. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the argument regarding technology is mentioned in the introduction, the first body paragraph, and the second body paragraph without significant expansion. The ideas are relevant, but the lack of specific examples or deeper analysis prevents a higher score. The position is clear, but the overall development is basic and lacks the depth required for a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, 'theirfore' is used repeatedly and often incorrectly, and transitions like 'furthermore' and 'on the other hand' are used to link ideas, but the flow between sentences is sometimes disjointed. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the paragraphing, while present, does not always logically group the ideas effectively.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary range is limited and repetitive. There are numerous spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'indivisduals', 'regaurdless', 'expericences', 'tecnology', 'compainies', 'preffer', 'employes', 'orgainization', 'tge', 'stratiges', 'retairement', 'belives', 'concious', 'couses', 'mordenize', and 'inhance'. These errors are frequent and occasionally make the text difficult to read. While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary, the high frequency of spelling mistakes and the limited range of synonyms significantly impact the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. While there are attempts at complex sentences, they are often marred by grammatical errors, such as 'This problem causes because' (incorrect passive/active voice) and 'they are know how to utilize' (incorrect verb form). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several run-on sentences and missing commas. The frequency of errors is high, which occasionally impedes the reader's understanding of the intended meaning.
