Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response is significantly under the required word count of 250 words, reaching only 114 words. Because the essay is incomplete, it fails to address the prompt fully. While the introduction mentions both causes and solutions, the body paragraphs are severely underdeveloped. The essay stops abruptly after mentioning two causes, failing to provide any solutions or a conclusion. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed, and the ideas are not extended or supported as required by the task instructions. To improve, you must ensure you provide a full response that covers all parts of the prompt with sufficient depth and length.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay shows some attempt at organization with an introduction and a body paragraph. However, the lack of a conclusion and the incomplete nature of the response hinder the overall progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Besides this' and 'For instance', but the limited length makes it difficult to assess your ability to manage cohesion effectively across a full text. The paragraphing is present, but the abrupt ending prevents a logical flow. To improve, focus on structuring your essay with a clear introduction, at least two well-developed body paragraphs, and a concluding summary.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, but it is somewhat basic and repetitive. Phrases like 'ageing people' and 'high chances of age discrimination' are clear but lack the sophistication expected at higher bands. There are some minor issues with word choice, such as 'keen expertise' which is not a standard collocation. To reach a higher band, you should aim to incorporate more precise, academic vocabulary and idiomatic expressions related to the topic of employment and workforce dynamics. Expanding your range will help you express your ideas with more nuance and precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are noticeable grammatical errors. For example, 'In some parts of the countries' is awkward, and 'there are various steps could be taken' is grammatically incorrect (it should be 'that could be taken'). Additionally, 'Both questions well explained' is a sentence fragment missing a verb. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to affect the clarity of your writing. You should focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of relative clauses to improve your accuracy.
