You should use your own ideas, knowledge and experience and support your arguments with examples and relevant evidence.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

Finding jobs in a few countries is quite tough for older generation no matter how much knowledge they have. Although, there are various reasons behind that yet, it can be sorted out if tackled in an authentic way.

One of the main reasons why masses at the age of fifty face huge difficulty in receiving paid-work is that some countries are having extraordinary developments in artificial intelligence and fintech which is a major threat to people especially at the age of fifty. For instance, now it is the era of fast technology and older generation is not as compatible as robots are. Now most companies have replaced humans with technology in order to have their work done in seconds rather than in hours. Hence, despite having enough experience of age audiences are having hard time in getting jobs.

There is always a silver lining in every cloud, the problems can be overcome if proper working can be done in an outstanding way. In my opinion, new innovations should be taught clearly to old generation from the scratch so they can learn them by heart and can use this potential in their work in order to get their desired work in any country. The more peope aware of using new technologies ,the international market can get more benefit from them at a time in variety of fields. For example, if a fifty years old man can run a software firm and has knowledge of creating websites, it is beneficial for the company as well as for the government of that country in such a way that instead of having jobless population they now have literate and well educated older generation which is no more a burden on the law makers. In such a way, mid-year population can be tackled as a work-force.

In a nutshell, it can be stated that in some countries where job market is completely shifted to robots and intelligence there can be possible way forwards which can be adopted in order to get back people of the gae of fifty into the labour.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: causes (technological advancement and AI) and solutions (upskilling and training). The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding AI replacing humans is a common point but lacks specific evidence or a more nuanced explanation of why older workers specifically struggle compared to younger ones. The solution proposed—teaching new innovations from scratch—is a bit simplistic. To reach a higher band, you should provide more concrete examples or explore the socio-economic implications of these solutions in greater depth to fully develop your arguments.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'For instance,' 'Hence,' and 'In a nutshell,' which help the flow. However, some transitions are a bit mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'There is always a silver lining in every cloud,' which doesn't perfectly fit the context of the argument. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the phrase 'mid-year population,' which is not standard terminology for this age group. Improving the variety and naturalness of your linking words would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'artificial intelligence,' 'fintech,' and 'labour.' However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and non-standard collocations, such as 'age audiences,' 'receive paid-work,' and 'mid-year population.' Some phrasing is repetitive, and the use of 'from the scratch' is slightly informal. To improve, focus on using more precise academic collocations and ensure that your vocabulary choices are natural and contextually appropriate for a formal essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the old generation,' 'the international market') and subject-verb agreement ('the more peope aware of using new technologies, the international market can get...'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor errors in sentence construction that occasionally impede the flow. To achieve a higher score, focus on refining your control over complex sentence structures and ensuring consistent accuracy in articles and prepositions.
