Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: causes and solutions. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. The argument regarding physiological changes is a common perspective, but the supporting evidence—a specific, dated article—feels forced and lacks depth. The solutions provided, such as government subsidies and sports programs, are relevant but could be expanded with more detail on how they would realistically be implemented. The essay maintains a clear position, but the overall depth of analysis is more characteristic of a Band 5.5 or 6.0 response, as the ideas are presented rather than fully explored.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. There is a basic attempt at using cohesive devices, such as 'Initially', 'Now I will focus on', and 'In conclusion'. However, the transitions between sentences are sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'So, this thing can make an organization less productive'. The referencing is generally clear, but the flow between the cause and the solution could be smoother to achieve a higher band. The paragraphing is appropriate for the task.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for a higher band. There are some instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'make it less worse' and 'granting them for salaries'. While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'physiological changes' and 'psychologically', the overall lexical control is limited. There are no major spelling errors that impede communication, but the choice of words is often repetitive or simplistic, preventing the essay from demonstrating a more sophisticated command of the language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include 'In few nations' (missing article), 'get hired people' (incorrect word order), 'there are some physiological changes happen' (incorrect verb form), and 'eventually help them' (missing subject-verb agreement). While these errors do not completely obscure the meaning, they are frequent enough to be noticeable and impact the overall fluency of the writing. A greater variety of error-free complex structures is needed to reach a higher band.
