You should use your own ideas, knowledge and experience and support your arguments with examples and relevant evidence.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
People over the age of 50 are facing challenges to secure a good job, although they carry vast experience with them. It could be the effect of growing youth population and the difficulties faced by the particular age group to adopt to new technologies. For this, government should provide trainings for enhancing their technological skills and the organizations providing jobs should encourage them to apply for advisory roles.
To begin with, an increasing number of youths in the job market is making it challenging for the older people to get a decent job. The companies prefer the people with more enthusiasm and diligence. As the youths desire to get a quick promotion, they tend to put more efforts and they are generally more productive as well. As a result, the businesses hire more number of youths in comparison to the middle aged people. Secondly, people above 50 usually find it challenging to get familiar with constantly evolving technologies. Usually, youths can quickly adapt themself in the changing technological environment . As the businesses introduce the latest technology in their systems, they prefer the youths who can use it. For example, a bank which regularly updates its software wants a young workforce as they could learn to use them quickly.
To solve this problem, governments should conduct trainings programs to update middle aged population about the technological innovations. The companies hesitate to employ the people over the age 50 because they face hurdles in using the latest technology. If these people learn about the latest technologies and their usage with the help from the government , then the companies would hire them. For instance, providing weekly session on the implications of AI in workplace to the people above 50 could make them more employable. Additionally, the firms could motivate the middle aged people to apply for advisory roles rather than the technical roles. As these people are experienced enough to assist the firm in solving business problems, the companies could add a section in the vacancy announcement stating that the middle aged people would be preferred in the advisory roles.
In conclusion, despite having vast experiences, people above 50 are not getting decent jobs due to the rising number youths and their inefficiency for adopting new technologies. To solve this, governments could provide trainings programs and the companies could motivate these people to focus on advisory roles rather than the technical ones.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, identifying both causes (youth population, technological adaptation) and solutions (government training, advisory roles). The ideas are relevant and clearly presented. However, the development is somewhat repetitive; for instance, the point about technology is mentioned in the introduction, the body paragraphs, and the conclusion without significant new depth. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand on the implications of these points with more nuanced analysis or specific real-world examples beyond the banking scenario. Overall, the position is clear and maintained throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Each paragraph has a central topic, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow. You use cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Secondly', and 'Additionally' effectively to link your points. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally repetitive. To improve, try to vary your linking phrases and ensure that the flow between sentences is more natural rather than relying on standard signposting words at the start of every paragraph.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'diligence', 'constantly evolving', and 'implications'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'adopt to new technologies' (should be 'adapt to') and 'hire more number of youths' (should be 'a greater number of'). While these errors do not impede communication, they limit the score. To achieve a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing like 'good jobs' or 'decent jobs'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical slips, such as 'adapt themself' (should be 'adapt themselves') and 'trainings programs' (should be 'training programs'). Additionally, there are minor issues with article usage and pluralization. The majority of your sentences are error-free, but the frequency of these small errors prevents a higher score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct usage of plural/uncountable nouns to improve your accuracy.
