Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the essay identifies causes such as technological advancement and age discrimination, these points are not sufficiently extended or supported with relevant examples. The solutions provided are vague and lack the depth required for an Academic Task 2 response. Because the response is under-length and the ideas are underdeveloped, it does not fully address all parts of the prompt in a comprehensive manner.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a clear structure. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the transitions between ideas are abrupt and often confusing. Cohesive devices are used in a mechanical or incorrect way, such as 'On the other hands' and 'Meanwhile we have to discuss'. The logical progression of ideas is hindered by the lack of clear topic sentences and supporting arguments, making the overall flow of the text disjointed.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often imprecise. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'regime of the different states' and 'create communication chances'. The student relies on basic vocabulary and struggles to use collocations correctly, for example, 'high experiences' instead of 'extensive experience'. The range is insufficient to express complex ideas clearly, and the errors occasionally impede the reader's understanding of the intended meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that affect clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'This is the main issue is being faced', and incorrect sentence structures, such as 'Collaborate both ideas to create the new one'. Punctuation is inconsistent, and the use of complex sentence structures is largely unsuccessful. While the meaning is generally discernible, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar limits the score.
