Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is significantly under the required 250-word minimum, which severely limits your ability to develop your ideas. While you identify relevant causes like age discrimination and technological advancement, the discussion is truncated. The essay ends abruptly mid-sentence, meaning you failed to complete the proposed solutions or provide a conclusion. Because the response is incomplete and fails to meet the length requirement, it cannot fully address all parts of the task. To improve, you must ensure you have enough time to flesh out your arguments with specific examples and complete the essay structure.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay shows a basic attempt at logical organization with an introduction and body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices like 'To begin with', 'Another important factor', and 'Furthermore' to signal transitions. However, because the text is incomplete and cuts off mid-sentence, the overall progression is interrupted. Paragraphing is present, but the lack of a conclusion and the unfinished nature of the final paragraph prevent the essay from having a coherent flow. To improve, focus on completing your thoughts and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence followed by supporting details.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You use some relevant terms like 'age discrimination' and 'recruitment', but there are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'do work in low wages' (should be 'work for low wages') and 'many companies are hire' (should be 'many companies hire'). The vocabulary is somewhat repetitive, and the errors occasionally make the text feel slightly unnatural. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and using more precise academic vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There is a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. You have frequent errors in basic grammar, such as 'number of people faces' (should be 'a number of people face'), 'One of the major reason' (should be 'reasons'), and 'as youngers' (should be 'younger people'). Punctuation is also problematic, with missing capital letters at the start of sentences and inconsistent usage. These errors are frequent and sometimes distract the reader. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, pluralization, and basic sentence punctuation.
