Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt—causes and solutions—but the development is insufficient. The ideas are presented in a very brief manner, and the word count is below the 250-word minimum, which negatively impacts the depth of the argument. The examples provided, such as the survey in Australia and the banking statistic, are vague and lack the necessary detail to fully support the points made. To improve, you should expand on your reasoning and provide more concrete, well-explained examples to ensure your response is fully developed and meets the length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'To explain it' and 'To make it more clear'. While there is a logical progression from the problem to the solution, the transitions between sentences could be smoother. The referencing is generally clear, but the overall flow is hindered by the brevity of the paragraphs and the limited range of linking words used to connect ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but remains quite basic and repetitive. Phrases like 'good jobs', 'updated skills', and 'work efficiently' are used throughout without much variation. There are also some minor errors in word choice, such as 'effect' instead of 'affect'. To achieve a higher band, you should aim to incorporate more precise, topic-specific vocabulary related to employment, professional development, and corporate dynamics, and avoid repeating the same phrases in every paragraph.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'they have lack of updated skills' (should be 'they lack' or 'they have a lack of'), 'it will not only effect' (should be 'affect'), and 'there companies hire' (should be 'these companies'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band score.
