Student answer (Band 5.0)

In the recent year unemployement has become a widely problem. While some people believe that in our country pakistan there is a serious problem of getting a good job other argue that in some countries, it can be very difficult for people over the age of 50 to get good jobs.

The essay has discuss both views and I believe if we have good skills so we should able to have good job, and as well as we can do job after 50.

I strongly agree with this view because if we do not have experience, we do not have skills so in future it is not possible to get a good job.

In many countries like Pakistan, India and many other countries, it is very difficult for peoples to earn money even well educated person also do not find a good job, because in our education institution we do not learn skills, we do not do praticle work and the result is that we don't have any skill and we can not find a jobs.

On the other hand some peoples have good skills but they did not take care of his health eating fast foods like pizza, burgers and drink different types of cokes as a result they do not have good health and not able to work after 50.So they need to take care of his health and eat health food instead of eating fast foods.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt but struggles with focus. While it identifies some causes (lack of practical skills and poor health), the development is inconsistent. The introduction misinterprets the prompt by discussing unemployment in Pakistan rather than focusing on the specific issue of ageism in the workplace. Furthermore, the argument regarding health is somewhat tangential to the core issue of employment barriers for those over 50. The conclusion is incomplete and fails to provide a clear summary of the proposed solutions. To improve, ensure that every paragraph directly relates to the specific question asked and provides a balanced discussion of both causes and solutions.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The transition between ideas is often abrupt, and the use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes repetitive (e.g., 'On the other hand'). Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the use of 'his' when referring to people in general. The paragraphing is present but does not effectively guide the reader through the argument. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words to connect sentences and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that links back to the main prompt.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, which limits the ability to express complex ideas. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'widely problem' instead of 'widespread problem' and 'praticle work' instead of 'practical work'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to discuss the topic with precision. To reach a higher band, you should focus on learning topic-specific collocations related to employment and health, and work on using more precise adjectives and nouns rather than relying on simple, general terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'The essay has discuss'), pluralization (e.g., 'peoples'), and sentence structure. The use of complex sentences is limited and often contains errors, such as the run-on sentence in the final paragraph. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after periods and commas. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct verb tenses, and proofreading for common errors like subject-verb agreement and plural forms.
