Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: causes and solutions. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention 'age determination' and 'technology' as causes, the explanation is brief and lacks depth. Similarly, the suggested solutions, such as government training programs, are mentioned but not fully explored with specific examples or logical consequences. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points by providing more detailed explanations or hypothetical scenarios. The position is clear, but the overall development remains superficial, which limits the score to a 5.5.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, 'the other side is younger people' and 'Another, pivotal reason' are used in ways that do not flow naturally. There are also issues with referencing; in the second paragraph, the transition between ideas is abrupt. While there is an overall progression, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the occasional awkward phrasing make the cohesion feel somewhat disjointed. Improving the variety and accuracy of transition signals would significantly enhance the flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'good jobs' and 'big qualification'. There are also noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'age determination' (likely meaning age discrimination) and 'government employee can measure' (likely meaning government can implement measures). Some phrases are repetitive, and the lack of variety in word choice hinders the ability to convey complex ideas effectively. Focusing on learning collocations and more academic synonyms will help improve your lexical range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('government should have to take action'), article usage ('the 50 years old'), and sentence fragments or run-on sentences ('In addition, any jobs require advance digital skills, some older people they did not received...'). These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable throughout the text. To improve, you should focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like verb tense consistency and pluralization.
