Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is significantly under the required word count of 250 words, reaching only 148 words. Because the essay is incomplete, the development of ideas is severely restricted. While the introduction identifies the causes (technological development and age discrimination) and mentions that solutions exist, the essay stops abruptly mid-sentence while discussing the first solution. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed, and the arguments are underdeveloped. To improve, you must ensure you complete all parts of the prompt, including a full discussion of solutions and a concluding summary, while meeting the minimum length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay shows a basic attempt at organization, using linking words like 'Firstly' and 'Another important factor' to introduce points. However, the abrupt ending prevents the development of a logical flow or a coherent conclusion. Paragraphing is attempted, but the incomplete nature of the text makes the overall structure feel fragmented. To improve, focus on developing each paragraph with sufficient supporting evidence and ensure the essay follows a logical progression from introduction to body paragraphs and a final conclusion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is generally appropriate for the topic, such as 'technological development,' 'age discrimination,' and 'professional skills.' However, the range is limited due to the short length of the response. There are minor errors, such as 'excepts them' instead of 'expects them' and 'the affordable training' where 'the' is unnecessary. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise collocations and a wider variety of topic-specific vocabulary, while ensuring accurate word choice and spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'This problem is caused by due to' (a redundant construction) and 'a younger employees' (a singular/plural mismatch). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after periods in some places. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors and the lack of structural variety limit the score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and avoiding redundant phrasing to improve accuracy.
