In some countries, it can be very difficult for people over the age of 50 to get good jobs, despite their experience.
What do you think are the causes of this problem, and what measures could be taken to solve it?
You should use your own ideas, knowledge and experience and support your arguments with examples and relevant evidence.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
Their is a problem face by older age groups which is above 50 to acquire job despite being experienced in the relative field in a few countries.
The problem faced by these individuals could be because of the following factors:
Firstly, the world is moving towards the highest form of technology known to man kind which is AI. As the field is new, companies needs to recruit fresh enthusiastic youngsters which can performing coding and training the Ai's for longer hours which is a major set back for the people belonging to the older age groups
Secondly, their is a generational gap which causes disagreement between the opinions and how the work is done in younger and older age groups Thirdly ,there was an article in a local news paper highlighting the issue that people from older age groups prefer to work conventionally rather adopting new ideas.
Thirdly, as the technology is growing fast their is a lot of competition between the companies and these people are not able to do the task in a given span of time because of health issues making hirers avoiding them.
These problems can be solved by the government initiating short course programs for example different courses provided on the platform known as ITI by which they can bind their experience with the new demands. Also they can be hired as supervisors to check the quality of the work , this could help in avoiding the major issues of argument and disagreement between the younger employees as this will emphasize more the completion rather how its done.
In conclusion, there are problems but that doesn't mean that the solution cant be achieved, with different strategies these issues can come to an end.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying causes for the employment difficulties faced by those over 50—such as the rise of AI, generational gaps, and health concerns—and proposing measures like government short courses and supervisory roles. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the numbering of points is confused, with 'Thirdly' used twice, and the arguments regarding technology and health are somewhat superficial. The position is generally clear throughout, but the depth of support and extension of ideas places this performance in Band 6. To reach a higher band, the student should expand on specific examples and ensure all presented causes and solutions are distinct and fully explored.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
There is a coherent overall arrangement of ideas, but the logical progression is hindered by poor paragraphing and mechanical cohesive devices. The essay begins with an abrupt introduction where sentences are isolated rather than flowing. Furthermore, the sequencing of arguments is flawed, notably the repetition of 'Thirdly' to introduce separate points. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as 'these people' and 'this could help'. While the response does use some transitional markers like 'Firstly' and 'In conclusion', the overall structural control aligns with Band 5.5. Better paragraph structuring and more varied, accurate cohesive links are needed to improve cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common terms such as 'conventional', 'enthusiastic', and 'supervisors'. However, there are numerous lexical and spelling errors that detract from the writing, including 'Their' instead of 'There', 'man kind' instead of 'mankind', 'Ai's' instead of 'AIs', 'news paper', and 'adopting' instead of 'than adopting'. Word choice is sometimes unnatural, such as 'bind their experience'. Although these errors do not completely impede communication, their frequency prevents the score from reaching Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some capacity for subordination and relative clauses (e.g., 'youngsters which can performing coding...'). However, grammatical accuracy is weak, featuring frequent errors such as subject-verb agreement issues ('companies needs', 'there is a problem face'), incorrect verb forms ('can performing'), missing prepositions, and punctuation flaws. Complex structures often contain errors that cause some difficulty for the reader. These persistent issues place the grammatical performance firmly at Band 5.0.
