Student answer (Band 5.0)

Yes it is definitely true, that in some countries it is very difficult for ageing population to get a perfect jobs, despite of their experience.

In my point of view, the main reason of this problem is the growing population. In that era the population of world is increasing day by day very quickly as well as the competition also, which cause a great impact on employment in current time. Almost every single younger is in the search of jobs after completing their education. As a result in this race it is very difficult for over age person to get a any occupation for instance the companies also recruit a fresh person.

There are few ways to control or solve this problem. firstly, The government should give attention to growing population and take a step to control it. Secondly, they have to start different scheme for old people where they keep their self busy in some kind of works and can also generate a suitable income for them. The retirees can also start or open any institution where they should teach and share their experience to new generation. for example if an adults first learn some techniques from their elder or retire people so it will be very easy for them to take a step in practical life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The student attempts to address both parts of the prompt, identifying causes such as population growth and increased competition, and offering measures like government schemes and mentoring by retirees. However, the response suffers from significant under-length, falling well short of the required 250 words at only 218 words. Furthermore, the ideas are under-developed and lack depth or fully explained supporting examples. For instance, mentioning that 'companies also recruit a fresh person' is asserted without further elaboration, and the link between population growth and the employment difficulties of older workers is weak and overly generalised. Consequently, the ideas are not fully extended, placing this response in Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is organized into three paragraphs: an introduction, a body paragraph on causes, and a body paragraph on solutions. While there is a basic structure, progression is limited because the arguments are simplistic and abrupt. Cohesive devices are used, but they are sometimes mechanical or awkwardly placed, such as 'In that era' or 'Firstly, The government... Secondly, they have to'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in phrases like 'where they keep their self busy'. Paragraphing is attempted, but the overall arrangement lacks the clear logical progression and flexible management of cohesive devices expected at Band 6. Therefore, a score of 5.0 is appropriate.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally basic and repetitive, with frequent lexical and collocation errors that constrain the response. Examples include 'ageing population to get a perfect jobs', 'over age person', 'a any occupation', and 'keep their self busy'. The student attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'institution', 'generation', and 'techniques', but control is weak, and word choices often feel unnatural or inaccurate. The range is minimally adequate for communicating simple thoughts, but the lexical inaccuracies and lack of sophistication align closely with Band 5.0 descriptors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The student displays a limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside a few clumsy attempts at complex forms. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including article misuse ('to get a perfect jobs'), prepositional errors ('despite of', 'in search of'), subject-verb agreement issues ('every single younger is'), and pronoun errors ('keep their self'). Punctuation and capitalization errors are also present (e.g., lowercase 'firstly', 'for example'). These frequent errors can cause occasional difficulty and distraction for the reader, placing the grammar performance firmly at Band 5.0.
