IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In some countries, it can be very difficult for people over the age of 50 to get good jobs, despite their experience.
What do you think are the causes of this problem, and what measures could be taken to solve it?
You should use your own ideas, knowledge and experience and support your arguments with examples and relevant evidence.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
People over the age of 50 are facing the problem regarding job findings its is a real problem people are facing because every human have to do work for their livings and in my opinion people over the age 50 are not to old to find a job.
There are many causes of this problem first one is their growing age may be companies who offer work consider them old or less capable, they assume that people over 50 are no more capable of doing intellectual or hard work.
Second cause may be the health issues in our modern era people are not living a healthy life style as they grow up they start eating un healthy then after age 50 they commonly face many health issues and then people start ignoring them and stop offering them new jobs.
the third and most important cause is that we have many young and talented people in the pipeline who are more capable more informed and more equipe with new technology so the people over age 50 despite their experiences considered less informed with new technology for example young people have more informed of AI and are considering AI as a useful innovation rater than old people are still considering AI as a human replacemnet innovation.
in my opinion there must bring some ammendements to arrange jobs for the people over age 50, in offices and other work places there must be place for the people over age 50 so that young generation could learn from their experiances too.it will be a good affect on society if we engage our old people Govt should start programs by combinig the over age people and start linking them with young generation to build a strong experienced well informed society.
A balanced society can be an ideal society if we go ahead with our both generations and by not making only young generation rule out.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying causes such as ageism, health assumptions, and technological changes, and proposing solutions like government programs and intergenerational workplaces. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive, particularly regarding technology and health. The position is clear, but the reasoning remains generalized rather than fully supported with robust examples and relevant evidence. For instance, the mention of AI is superficial. Overall, the response meets the criteria for Band 5.5, tending towards Band 6 in terms of fulfilling the task requirements, but the underdeveloped explanations keep it at a solid Band 5.5.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The text suffers from a lack of proper punctuation and paragraphing control. The entire response is essentially written in massive run-on blocks, with commas frequently used where full stops or conjunctions are needed, such as in 'People over the age of 50 are facing the problem regarding job findings its is a real problem...'. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion is weak due to the absence of standard cohesive devices and poor sentence boundaries. While there is a discernible progression of ideas from causes to solutions, the mechanical and faulty referencing impede smooth reading. This places the response firmly at Band 5.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is repetitive and basic, relying heavily on simple phrases like 'good jobs', 'growing age', and 'young and talented people'. There are noticeable spelling and word choice errors, such as 'job findings' instead of 'job hunting', 'un healthy', 'equipe' instead of 'equipped', 'replacemnet', 'ammendements', and 'experiances'. Although the writer attempts some less common vocabulary related to the topic (e.g., 'innovation', 'intergenerational' implied), the numerous lexical inaccuracies and limited range restrict the score to Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The grammatical range is quite limited, consisting mostly of simple and attempted complex sentences that are heavily flawed by run-on structures and comma splices. Punctuation is almost entirely absent in terms of terminal periods between independent clauses, as seen in sentences like 'in my opinion there must bring some ammendements to arrange jobs for the people over age 50, in offices and other work places there must be place...'. Frequent structural errors and poor control over verb forms and word classes cause significant difficulty for the reader, aligning the performance with Band 5.0.
