Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 3.5

The response fails to fully address the prompt regarding the causes of employment difficulties for people over 50 and measures to solve it. Instead of presenting structured arguments, the writing merely circles around the topic with repetitive phrases like "good job" and "good experience" without developing clear ideas or real solutions. Furthermore, the response includes portions copied or paraphrased from the prompt instructions rather than generating original content. Most importantly, the response falls short of the minimum length requirement, containing only 236 words compared to the required 250 words. This under-length penalty severely restricts the task achievement score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay lacks a logical overarching progression and coherent structure. Although transitional attempts such as "First of all" and "Second of all" are present, the sentences within and between paragraphs do not build upon each other in a meaningful way. Ideas are jumbled together, and referencing is frequently unclear, making it extremely difficult for the reader to follow the train of thought. Paragraphing is attempted, but the paragraphs themselves consist of run-on sentences and disconnected fragments rather than unified themes. Cohesive devices are used mechanically and inaccurately.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary is extremely basic, repetitive, and restricted. Throughout the text, the student relies heavily on elementary words like "good," "people," "work," and "experience," reusing them constantly without variety or precision. Less common lexical items are absent, and there are frequent word-choice and collocation errors, such as "reast in old age" and "bleavies that old people." These lexical limitations significantly strain the reader and obscure the intended meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 3.5

The response demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures. Most sentences are poorly constructed fragments or run-on sentences linked incorrectly by coordinating conjunctions. There are frequent and severe errors in basic grammar, subject-verb agreement (e.g., "old people had long experience"), tense usage, and punctuation. Complex structures are attempted unsuccessfully, and errors frequently distort the meaning of the sentences, making the text difficult to parse.
