Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the causes of employment difficulties for people over 50 and offering relevant solutions. The student correctly identifies economic factors and the retirement age limit as causes, while suggesting entrepreneurship and online mentoring as measures. However, the development of ideas lacks depth in certain areas. For example, the explanation regarding teenagers entering the workforce and its direct impact on older adults is somewhat underdeveloped and relies on generalization. Furthermore, the causal link between national economic loops and age-based hiring could be elaborated further. While all parts of the task are addressed, the support and extension of ideas remain basic, fitting the criteria for Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used, though a single-sentence paragraph appears on its own ("On the other hand, there are numerous ways to overcome this issue."), which disrupts the flow. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'Nowadays', 'In this essay', 'On the other hand', 'Firslty', 'Secondly', and 'To conclude'. However, referencing and punctuation issues around these devices create some mechanical transitions. For instance, spacing errors and abrupt shifts between sentences detract from a seamless progression. Overall organisation is present, but cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical, which aligns with a Band 6.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The lexical resource is adequate for the task, though noticeable errors in word choice and spelling occur. Examples include 'enormous' misspelled as 'enormous' or used with grammatical errors ('it become a enormous challenge'), 'continously' instead of continuously, 'popoulation' instead of population, 'supporth' instead of support, 'enterprenuer' instead of entrepreneur, and 'recuriting' instead of recruiting. While the writer attempts less common vocabulary such as 'stagflation', 'breadwinner', and 'contemporary era', inaccuracies in spelling and collocation slightly impede smooth reading. The vocabulary range is sufficient to convey the basic message, but recurring errors place it firmly at Band 5.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some variety. However, grammatical errors are frequent throughout the response. Examples of errors include subject-verb agreement and tense issues: "it become a enormous challenge for the people whole reaches at the age", "popoulation teenagers also need", "population rising continously, alot of young, energetic teenagers looking forward", and "they can be use to train younsters and in return this kind of forums pay back in dollars". Punctuation and spacing errors (e.g., missing spaces after commas and periods) are also common. While meaning remains understandable, the density of errors prevents the grammar score from reaching Band 6.0.
