What do you think are the causes of this problem, and what measures could be taken to solve it?
You should use your own ideas, knowledge and experience and support your arguments with examples and relevant evidence.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
In several countries getting a good job after the age of 50 might be diificult no matter how experienced they are. This might happen because of age disrimination and lack of modern skills. Whereas this problem can be solved by skill development programmes and anti discrimination programmes.
There are several reason why people over the age of 50 may find it difficult to get jobs because employers think older workers are less energetic or less adaptable than younger ones. but its not really that for example, if a person is doing a job as an SQA enginner from 25 years he definetly have more experience than fresheres and they can also help interns or new employess to learn alot. another reason is many companies think older people are very familiar with new technology and they cant complete their task on time without using new advancements.
Theere are several measures that could help to adress this problem. firstly companies should orgnize skill development programs for old and new employees which can help alot for instance, if an older employee join a company and he have experience regarding their jobs and they can do their jobs efficently but somewhere they may lack knowledege about using different ai tools or different ai softwares that help them to improve their work quality and save their times. secondly , companies should avoid age discrmination and should hire employess based in skilss and experiences rather than selecing young employees with less experience that might not help comapny growing.
in conclusion, these measures could help people find suitable employement and make better uses of their valuable experiences.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the task, identifying causes such as age discrimination and technological shifts, and suggesting measures like skill development programmes and anti-discrimination policies. Your position is clear from the introduction. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For example, when discussing technology, you state that older workers lack knowledge about AI tools, but this point could be extended with more specific examples or deeper explanation. Additionally, there are minor typos such as 'diificult' and 'discrmination' in the introduction. Because you cover all parts of the task with relevant, albeit slightly underdeveloped ideas, the response aligns best with Band 6.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay has a basic structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, which provides a coherent overall arrangement. Paragraphing is attempted, though the division between paragraphs can be improved, as the main body contains some run-on ideas. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'firstly', 'secondly', and 'in conclusion', but referencing and linking within sentences are sometimes faulty or mechanical, as seen in 'for example, if a person is doing a job as an SQA enginner from 25 years he definetly have more experience than fresheres and they can also help interns'. Capitalisation and punctuation are frequently neglected at the start of sentences and after commas, which impacts the overall flow. These features place the response firmly at Band 5.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing you to convey basic arguments about employment, experience, and technology. You attempt some less common vocabulary such as 'adaptable', 'efficiently', and 'employment', but there are noticeable spelling errors throughout the text, including 'diificult', 'disridmination' (discriminiation), 'enginner', 'fresheres', 'employess', 'orgnize', 'knowledege', and 'discrmination'. These spelling and word-choice errors cause some distraction for the reader, though they do not completely impede communication. Because the range is minimally adequate and contains frequent spelling slips, this corresponds to a Band 5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional structures ('if a person is doing a job...'). However, your control over grammar and punctuation is inconsistent. There are numerous missing capital letters at the beginning of sentences and proper nouns (e.g., 'in several countries', 'secondly , companies'). Furthermore, there are several grammatical errors and awkward agreements, such as 'he have experience' instead of 'they have experience' or 'he has experience', and 'from 25 years' instead of 'for 25 years'. Complex sentences often contain errors, and punctuation is frequently misused. These issues place your grammar performance at Band 5.
