Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt only partially, and the length requirement is not met, as the essay contains 178 words, falling well short of the 250-word minimum. While you successfully identify causes such as weaker digital skills and propose measures like free training courses and anti-discrimination policies, the ideas remain limited and under-developed. For example, your assertion that older people 'are able to do work on higher salary because of high experience' is confusing and lacks proper support or examples. To reach a higher band, you would need to extend your arguments more fully, provide more relevant evidence or examples for both causes and solutions, and ensure you meet the minimum word count required for the task.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some basic organisation in your essay, with clear paragraph breaks separating the introduction, causes, measures, and conclusion. However, there is a lack of clear overall progression, and cohesive devices are sometimes inadequate, inaccurate, or repetitive. For instance, your transition words at the start of paragraphs, such as 'Predominantly' and 'However', feel somewhat mechanical and do not always fit the context naturally. Furthermore, referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in your opening sentence where the phrase 'mitigate the approach' does not properly connect to what you intend to discuss. To improve, you should focus on creating a smoother logical flow between sentences and use a wider, more natural variety of cohesive devices to link your ideas seamlessly.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

Your vocabulary range is limited but minimally adequate for expressing basic ideas. You attempt some less common vocabulary items, such as 'discrimination', 'occupation', and 'technological', but these attempts are often accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and word form. For instance, writing that older people 'obtain difficulty for employment' is unnatural, and you frequently repeat words like 'older people', 'skills', and 'experience'. Additionally, there are spelling and phrasing inaccuracies, such as 'peolpe' and 'drom'. To achieve a higher score, you need to use a wider range of vocabulary more flexibly and accurately, paying closer attention to natural collocations and ensuring correct word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You demonstrate a limited range of sentence structures, relying primarily on simple sentences alongside a few basic complex forms. When you attempt more complex structures, they are often faulty, leading to frequent grammatical errors that can occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. There are notable issues with article usage, such as missing articles ('companies are preferred to young people'), preposition errors ('work on higher salary'), and subject-verb agreement problems ('companies are preferred'). Punctuation and word order are also occasionally problematic. To move up to a higher band, you must incorporate a greater variety of complex grammatical structures with a higher proportion of error-free sentences, while improving your control over basic grammar rules like articles and prepositions.
