Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt partially by identifying some causes of employment difficulties for older workers, such as age limits and salary demands, and suggesting solutions like acquiring new skills and government encouragement. However, the position is not always clearly stated, and the ideas remain limited and under-developed. For instance, the discussion on corporate recruitment practices is repetitive and lacks specific examples or well-reasoned support. To move to a higher level, the writer needs to extend their ideas more fully with clear explanations and concrete examples that directly address both parts of the prompt in greater depth.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some organisation evident in the division of paragraphs into an introduction, causes, solutions, and a conclusion. However, the response lacks clear overall progression, and the logical links between sentences can be difficult to follow. Cohesive devices are often inadequate, inaccurate, or repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'there has been' and 'there are some people who'. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, as seen in phrases like 'For that problem we have solution'. To improve, the writer should ensure a smoother flow of ideas by using a wider variety of cohesive devices more accurately and establishing a clearer logical progression from one paragraph to the next.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. There are noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and spelling that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, such as 'server' instead of severe, 'dificulty' instead of difficulty, 'concered' instead of concerned, and 'salry' instead of salary. The writer attempts to use some less common vocabulary like 'coperate' and 'recuritment', but these contain persistent spelling errors and inaccurate collocations. To achieve a higher score, the writer needs to expand their lexical range, pay closer attention to spelling and word forms, and use vocabulary with greater precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The text displays a very limited range of sentence structures. While there are some attempts at complex sentences, they are frequently faulty, leading to frequent errors that can cause difficulty for the reader. Examples include 'there has been server problem facing by the society' and 'First, there are getting from age concern'. There are also frequent errors in verb forms, tenses, subject-verb agreement, and articles throughout the response. To progress, the writer must work on building a better mix of simple and complex sentence forms with greater grammatical accuracy, ensuring that basic sentence architecture is sound and free from frequent intrusive errors.
