Student answer (Band 5.5)
As the world population is increasing day by day, the demand for jobs is also increasing. To cater up with the needs of growing population the government of different countries introduce policies according to them. Government introduce policies according to the needs of the country keeping in mind the population, their dynamics, their age, their needs, their wants and their demands.
In some countries the population is very young like for example Pakistan where the median age of the population is 22 while in some countries median age of population is older like for example Japan. So in countries like Pakistan government would make policies to give jobs to young people as they are huge in number. Another reason to give jobs to young peple is that they are addaptive to technology and their are considered backbone of the economy, if government utilizes their efforts effectively and give them resources their young population could help in exponential growth in the economy.
In these type of countries it is very difficult for people over the age of 50 to find the jobs despite their experiences because they are nit addaptive to the technology as young people do, also these people are not so creative and understand every new innovation as they take some time to adapt it. Similarly people over the age of 50 are not so much activ e in their task as they are near the age of retirnment and companies need people who should be loyal to them for almost 20 to 30 years because a loyal employee who remaines in the company for long time gives more business to the company and help in the growth and maintain prosperity of the company.
The government and companies should take different measures to solve this job issues of older people by giving incentives to the people who are unemployed at the age of 50. Government should them special health benifits to them and give jobs to these kind of people in higher managerial positions because these people have a good experience. Likewise companies should not lay off employees if they are reached as such a age, give bonuses and also hire in top level executive and managerial positions.
People with over 50 years of the age should be given special benifits, rewards. discounts and their hiring should be done in top levels. Government should make departments such as old age benifits institutions for the old people to listen to their need, wants and provide them with solution and benifits to them.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the causes of and measures for employment difficulties faced by people over 50, but the ideas remain limited and under-developed. For instance, the discussion on demographics uses Pakistan and Japan as examples, but the explanation regarding older workers lacks depth and generalises their technical abilities too broadly, stating they are 'not so creative' and 'not so much activ e'. The proposed solutions are also repetitive, focusing heavily on benefits, discounts, and managerial roles without exploring broader systemic approaches. While the position is generally clear, the limited development of supporting arguments places this aspect of the writing at the current level, requiring fully extended ideas and deeper examples to reach higher standards.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is some organisation present, moving from general population trends to specific causes and finally to measures, but there is a lack of clear overall progression. The introduction spends excessive time discussing government policies on population dynamics without directly addressing the prompt. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often basic, repetitive, or mechanically applied, such as starting multiple sentences with 'Government' or 'In these type of countries'. Paragraphing is attempted, but paragraph boundaries feel somewhat arbitrary, with ideas blending together rather than forming distinct thematic blocks. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as pronoun use in 'their are considered backbone of the economy'. To improve, the writer needs to ensure smoother transitions between ideas and a more logical flow from one paragraph to the next.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The lexical range is limited but minimally adequate for communicating the basic message. The student attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'exponential growth', 'dynamics', and 'managerial positions', but these are accompanied by frequent noticeable errors in word choice, form, and spelling. Examples include 'cater up', 'addaptive' (instead of adaptive), 'benifits' (instead of benefits), 'retirnment', and 'activ e'. These vocabulary errors and spelling mistakes occasionally cause difficulty for the reader and reflect a restricted control of word formation. To achieve a higher band, the writer must expand their vocabulary range and demonstrate greater precision in word choice, collocation, and correct spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response displays a very limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and repetitive clauses. Attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty, leading to numerous grammatical errors. There are frequent issues with subject-verb agreement ('Government introduce policies', 'government would make', 'their are considered'), article usage ('find the jobs', 'at such a age'), and prepositional phrases ('reach as such a age'). Punctuation is also problematic, with run-on sentences and missing commas disrupting the flow. These frequent errors cause strain and difficulty for the reader. To progress, the writer needs to produce a greater variety of error-free complex structures and pay closer attention to basic grammatical accuracy.
