Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response addresses the task only partially because it is incomplete and stops abruptly mid-sentence in the second body paragraph. Furthermore, the length requirement is not met, as the text falls short of the minimum word count. While the introduction briefly mentions causes and measures, only the causes are partially explored. Ideas are limited and under-developed, such as the unsupported claim that people over 50 lack physical capacity for work and the vague example of a renowned organisation. To improve, the writer must fully answer both parts of the prompt with extended, well-supported arguments and ensure the essay reaches the required length.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some organisation evident through the use of basic sequencing phrases like 'When it comes to the causes of it' and 'To elaborate it in detail', but there is no clear overall progression due to the incomplete nature of the essay. Cohesive devices are at times repetitive or inaccurate, such as 'behind this phenomena there are ample of reasons and a rage of stepps'. Paragraphing is attempted, but the final body paragraph is cut off prematurely, preventing a logical conclusion. For a higher band, the writer needs to ensure all paragraphs are fully fleshed out with clear logical progression and varied, accurate cohesive links.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and barely adequate for the task, containing noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and spelling. Examples include 'daunting' used inappropriately for seeking a job, 'rage of stepps' instead of 'range of steps', 'mayrid' for myriad, and 'employess'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary such as 'phenomena' and 'renowned', but these are marred by inaccuracies and awkward collocations like 'at this much age' or 'grey people'. To progress, the writer needs to expand their lexical repertoire and pay closer attention to spelling, word formation, and natural collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple or basic complex forms. There are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that can cause some difficulty for the reader, such as comma splices ('In a few nations,it could...'), incorrect pluralisation ('physical task', 'younger employess'), and prepositions or articles. For instance, writing 'in security field' lacks the necessary article, and 'every physical work has targets' contains agreement issues. To achieve a higher band, the writer must incorporate a wider variety of complex structures with greater accuracy and minimize basic grammatical errors.
