Student answer (Band 5.5)

In some nations, it can be extremely challneging for people over the age of 50 to obtain a better jobs, despite their experience. Thiss essay will discuss the reasons behind this notion and possible steps to solve this issue which will be elaborated in the upcoming paragraphs with suitable conclusion.

To begin with the problem, why the face problems while applying for a job. One of the primary reasons for this problem is age discrimination among employers. In contemporary society, many multinational corporations prefer younger employees because they believe that these individuals are more energetic, adaptable and familiar with modern technology. As a result, applicants over the age of 50 may be overlooked despite having considerable professional experience. Another contributing factor is that some older workers may lack the digital skills required for certain modern positions. For example, companies that rely heavily on advanced software may favour younger candidates who are already familiar with these tools. Consequently, age-related stereotypes and technological skill gaps can make it more difficult for older people to secure suitable employment.

However, it has also some possible reasons, such as provide training about modern technology and digital skills, as these days most of the companies adopt technology and digital skills in their work that they can enhance the productivity and sales of their company better and if the government provide the free training to the older people about the current technology that mostly companies use , such as different types of software like artificial intelligence, machine learning, or other software, as well as they also have to train about digital skills and digital platforms Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, that they can sell their product more digitally and earn more as compared to the physical one method . For example, in India, mostly older people are unemployed in my country. If the government provides free training to the elder people about the current high-tech technology, then there could be a possibility that the companies accept or allow the older people to work in their firms. Therefore is the reason that provide free training can be a effective way to get job.

In conclusion, although age discrimination and a lack of digital skills can make it difficult for people over 50 to find employment, this problem can be addressed by providing free technology training and encouraging employers to offer equal opportunities to older workers.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both parts of the question by identifying age discrimination and gaps in digital skills as causes, then proposing free technology training and fairer hiring. The explanation that employers may see younger applicants as more adaptable is relevant, and the example of software-dependent companies helps illustrate the skills issue. However, the measures are developed less clearly than the causes: most of the solution paragraph focuses on training, while the conclusion briefly mentions equal opportunities without explaining how employers or governments could promote them. The India example is also broad and unsupported. To strengthen the response, explain practical measures such as anti-discrimination policies or incentives for hiring experienced workers, and develop each proposal with a clear link to the problem.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, a paragraph on causes, a paragraph on solutions, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “As a result,” “Consequently,” and “In conclusion” help show relationships between ideas. However, progression is uneven: the solutions paragraph begins “However, it has also some possible reasons,” which does not clearly signal that the discussion is moving to measures. That paragraph then combines training, company productivity, social-media selling, and the India example in a long sequence, making the central proposal harder to follow. Some links are repetitive or unclear, including “Therefore is the reason.” Use a clear topic sentence for each paragraph and divide the solution into logically ordered points, with each example directly supporting its point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “age discrimination,” “adaptable,” “digital skills,” “advanced software,” and “equal opportunities.” These choices help communicate the main causes and proposed response. However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, such as “challneging,” “Thiss,” “better jobs,” and “elder people.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, including “current high-tech technology” and “the physical one method.” The repeated use of “technology” and “digital skills” limits the range in the solutions paragraph. Aim for accurate collocations and more concise phrasing—for example, describe “older workers” gaining “up-to-date digital skills,” rather than repeating broad references to technology. Proofreading spelling and checking whether phrases sound natural would make your meaning clearer.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a cause-and-effect structure in “As a result, applicants over the age of 50 may be overlooked…” and a conditional example beginning “If the government provides free training…”. However, complex sentences are often faulty or incomplete, and errors sometimes make the argument difficult to follow. For instance, “To begin with the problem, why the face problems…” is not a complete, well-formed sentence, while “However, it has also some possible reasons” has an incorrect sentence structure. The long sentence beginning “as these days most of the companies adopt technology…” contains several clauses without clear grammatical control. Practise forming complete topic sentences, controlling clause boundaries, and checking articles, agreement, and verb patterns before adding further ideas.
