Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is a very common issue among the world for individuals over the age of 50 to get suitable job for them, no matter how experienced they have. However, there are several of reasons behind this issue as well as numerous steps should be taken to slove it.

On the one hand, if we talk about the causes of this problem there are several reasons. Firstly, individuals over the age of 50 are not enough able to do job tasks properly and may make different basic mistakes. For example, almost every kind of job requires big efforts and both mentally, physically activenesss in decisions making, whether people over 50 are unable to full fill the basic requirements of their jobs and fail to put suitable efforts according to their physical health and abilities, as compared to the young ones. Moreover, every organisations are trying to hire young and talented staff for their businesses, although they compromised on their experiences rather then hiring a experienced over aged employees.

On the other hand, numerous measures and step should be taken to solve this problem and support over aged population of our country, without any burden on national assests. For example, government should impose some special laws for organisations for hiring aged individuals. They should provide suitable and easy job options for them to fit mentally and physically active over the age of 50. Aged people are one of the greatest assests of any society, so we should provide facilities and opportunities to serve for the country in that age.

In conclusion, I strongly beleive that individuals over the age of 50 should have jobs opportunties according to their abilities and past experiences. We should support them in tough situations by hiring them or offering them easy tasks, so they do not feel stress and useless. Government should also work and passes some laws on this issue.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both parts of the question by giving causes and proposing measures, and your position is clear in the conclusion: people over 50 should have opportunities suited to their abilities and experience. The causes you identify—concerns about older workers’ ability to perform and employers’ preference for younger staff—are relevant. However, the first cause is presented as a broad assumption rather than supported with evidence or a specific example, and the claim that older people cannot meet basic job requirements needs qualification. The proposed laws and suitable job options are also relevant, but their practical details and likely effects are not explained. Develop each main idea with a reasoned example and clarify how the measures would address employers’ concerns.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph on causes, one on solutions, and a conclusion. The contrast between the two main sections is signalled with “On the one hand” and “On the other hand,” while “Firstly” and “Moreover” help organise the causes. This gives the reader a generally logical route through the response. To make the progression more effective, avoid relying on formulaic transitions and make the relationship between ideas clearer. For instance, the long example beginning “For example, almost every kind of job…” combines several claims, making its central point difficult to follow. Separate the explanation into shorter steps and use clearer references to connect each proposed measure to the cause it is intended to solve.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “experienced,” “organisations,” “hiring,” “opportunities,” and “abilities,” so the main ideas can be understood. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “suitable job for them,” “full fill the basic requirements,” and “serve for the country.” Repetition of “over the age of 50,” “aged,” and “job” also limits flexibility. Spelling errors such as “slove,” “beleive,” and “opportunties” are noticeable and reduce accuracy. Build a more precise vocabulary for employment and age discrimination, and check spelling and word forms carefully. More natural collocations would make your arguments clearer and more convincing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure (“if we talk about the causes…”) and a relative clause (“individuals over the age of 50…”). However, complex sentences are often difficult to control, and errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction occur frequently. For example, “every organisations are trying” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “government should also work and passes” mixes verb forms. In “whether people over 50 are unable to…,” the clause does not fit the intended comparison. Practise building shorter, accurate sentences first, then combine ideas using controlled subordinate clauses. Check singular and plural subjects, verb agreement, and article use during revision.
