Student answer (Band 5.5)
In many countries, it can be substantially very challenging for people over 50 to get good jobs, despite their experience. This is the worldwide problem and every company, intitute and government needs to focus on it. The main reason can be that companies prefer to employ young people to work, because they are updated from modern and new technolgy and are experienced in these.
However, there can be several reasons that companies don't employ people over 50 years old to work. Despite their experience, companies today needs people that are fast and can done work in less time other then their perfection. I think that the main problem can be that, the old people can less concentrate in a work. They can have experience in work but their skills are needs to be updated for today's requirement. Another reason can be that they can't remember things like younger one's can do. By the time when a person gets old, his memory also decreases with time.
Overall, from these problems there are solutions. But they require a little efforts from everyone, like I have said before, that companies needs people that are updated from modern technology. Old people needs to know about all the modern machinery and technology because the things they know are from 80's and today people doesn't use them. Secondly, they need to concenterate in things and know about modern development. At third, companies and government need to launch skill courses for older people, of all qualifications from it they can learn modern working and things.
In conclusion, the main problem for people over 50 getting a job is age discrimination and a lack of knowledge about modern technology. However, governments and companies should resolve this problem by taking certain measures.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both causes and possible measures, and your conclusion identifies age discrimination and limited knowledge of modern technology as central issues. The discussion is relevant, but the causes are not consistently clear or well supported. For example, you suggest that older workers may concentrate less and have weaker memories, but these are broad claims and are not explained or supported with an example. The point about employers prioritising speed over perfection is also introduced without showing how it affects hiring. Your proposed training courses are relevant, but the measures need more detail about who would provide them and how they would improve job prospects. Develop and support each main idea more fully, and make your position clearer throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, discussion of causes, proposed solutions and a conclusion. This helps the reader follow the broad direction of your answer. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven: the second paragraph moves from speed to concentration and then memory without clearly connecting these points. Linking phrases such as “However,” “Overall” and “In conclusion” are used, but some transitions feel mechanical or do not accurately signal the relationship between ideas. References such as “these problems” are also broad. Organise each body paragraph around one clear main idea, then explain it and connect it explicitly to the task. This would make the overall progression clearer and reduce the sense of a list.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use vocabulary relevant to employment and technology, including “age discrimination,” “modern technology,” “experience” and “skill courses.” This gives you enough language to communicate the main topic. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning less clear. Examples include “substantially very challenging,” “updated from modern and new technology,” and “concenterate in things.” There are also spelling errors such as “intitute” and “technolgy.” Aim for more precise, natural phrases and check spelling carefully. Reusing a small set of general words such as “things,” “work” and “modern” also limits the clarity and specificity of your discussion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a reason clause with “because” and a contrast introduced by “Despite.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to read. For example, “companies today needs people” has subject–verb disagreement, while “they can done work” uses an incorrect verb form. In “the old people can less concentrate,” the modal construction is incomplete, and “their skills are needs to be updated” combines incompatible verb forms. Articles, plurals and sentence punctuation also need attention. Practise building accurate sentences with modal verbs and subject–verb agreement before adding more complex structures; this will make your ideas easier to understand.
